Aweber and using a pen name

I haven't signed up for aweber yet because I'm still working on product creation... but when I'm finished and ready to build my list, I was wondering if I could use a pen name while signing up for aweber? Or if there is some way to change the name of who the automatic emails are being sent from, after I've signed up with my real name? Reason being... I'm using a pen name for my ebook and I want the same pen name to show up at the bottom of my emails to my subscribers instead of my real name. Thanks!

Here's a piece of advise: It is common and highly recommended to use a pseudo name for your online businesses.

There is nothing wrong with using a pen name for your list building and marketing. Most marketing gurus suggest you use a pen name instead of using your real one. You can set it up in Aweber when you create a list. There is a particular settings in Aweber for that.

yes, you could use that, nothing really wrong with it.

Using your real name does have some long term benefits though.

Yes, you can definitely use a pen name instead of your real name in your emails.

In Aweber, once you sign up, you are able to create different subscriber lists for different activities, products, etc. Each of the lists that you create allow you to have a different sender name and email address, and you can customize your signature etc for each on the bottom. Thought I'd jump in here since no one really answered your actual question yet.

You can definitely use a pen name.

I'd get aWeber sorted, and get building your list now, so that you have some people to promote to when you launch your product.

    Good luck!

Just F.Y.I. aside from the pen name - to comply with the can-spam act, you're going to have to provide a mailing address that will be displayed at the bottom of your emails.

Many of the posts above are incorrect.

The situation with Aweber is the same in this respect as the situation with Ezine Articles. You can have as many pen-names as you want within one account - that's normal - but you do need to open your account with Aweber in your own real name.

Like many/most affiliate marketers, I use multiple pen-names for all my different niches and therefore for all my different Aweber autoresponder series. The staff there (just like Ezine Articles staff) see my real name, but the recipients of my emails (just like the readers of my articles) never do.

Always read carefully the terms of service, policies and procedures of people/companies with whom you do business online, rather than relying on well-meaning but often mistaken or inaccurately worded "forum information".

I like how someone says everyone is incorrect when not one person said using a pen name is wrong, then goes on to repeat what has already been said that pen-names are useful....

To top it off, that person gets the only "thanks" in the thread. WF groupies

The question actually asked was "Can I use a pen-name while signing up for Aweber?". Contrary to the impression clearly given in many replies above, which basically say "yes", the answer to that question is "no".

It's no more complicated than that.

Also not ranting: just explaining why I thought my post might help the OP - but I'm happy that the forum's keeping you entertained, anyway, Robert.

I suspect that several people were answering a different question along the lines of "Is it a good thing to use pen-names?" and I didn't want the OP to make an entirely avoidable, account-opening mistake (because sometimes those aren't quite so easy to recover from as other types of mistakes).

You can perhaps see that "You can use a pen-name without any problem" is just plain wrong, as an answer to "Can I use a pen-name while signing up for Aweber?"

        ...

If you use your actual name as the login email address or username your response would make sense.

kim dotcom may be the only exception

Personally, I've never used a pen name, nor any other type of name in my music niche or otherwise that wasn't given to me at birth. Speaking of funny, another funny thing is that once the person behind the pen name becomes significantly popular, some editor seeking to be all Sherlock Holmes will expose the real name in his article anyways.
