Kindle Publishers: A Fast & Easy Method to Get 15 - 25 Free Amazon Kindle Reviews

Here's a 5-minute method for getting
dozens of reviewers to look at your book
and post reviews on Amazon!

1. Go to LibraryThing.com and sign up for a membership.

You can sign up for as low as $1. They have other options that will enable you to be eligible to post book giveaways, but they're more time consuming. To me, it's worth $1 to just be able to instantly put up a book giveaway.

FREE Option: If you don't have $1 to spare, you can register as a LibraryThing author or put 50+ books on your LibraryThing account and they'll let you do a book giveaway.

2. Go here and read the rules section for posting a book giveaway:
HelpThing:Er list - WikiThing

3. Go here and post your ebook for a free giveaway:
LibraryThing | Catalog your books online

4. Send out review copies!
Once your giveaway ends, go check your "Comments" on the site and you'll have a link waiting for you to access a list of the people who requested your book, along with their contact information.

Here's what it looks like once posted:

TIPS!

  • Remember to post your Kindle book as an ebook, unless you want to send print copies to reviewers.

  • You can give away up to 100 review copies! But remember, not everyone who gets a review copy will actually review your book. I've found I get a 15 - 25% review rate on my ebooks.
  • Remember, not every review will be 5-star glowing and gushing. But that adds to the credibility of your reviews overall. People trust your 5-star reviews more when there are a couple of 1, 2 and 3 star reviews in there, too. DON'T make the mistake of responding to negative reviews. To keep things in perspective, go look up on Amazon your favorite book of all time, a book you can find no fault with. It will undoubtedly have at least a couple of 1 star reviews. You can't please everybody and you shouldn't try.
  • You can run your giveaway for 1 week, 2 weeks, 3 weeks, or 1 month, but you won't receive the email addresses of the people who requested your book until AFTER the giveaway ends.
  • If you choose today's date for your giveaway, it will begin within 5 minutes!
  • Yes, this works on non-fiction, too. I've gotten great results with my non-fiction books.

I'm very intrigued. But my "it's too good to be true" lights are going off.

Well, it only takes a few minutes to test it out, Joe. And it's free (or $1).

  • Is this against Amazon's terms of service? We actually have to publish the e-book on their site. Isn't that a big red flag for Amazon?

Mark, I'm not sure I understand what you're saying. You don't have to publish your book on LibraryThing. You're just posting a description of it and letting people know it's available for review copies.

It's definitely not against Amazon TOS, as long as reviewers write in their review that they received a free review copy. Did I use the word "review" enough times there?

This seems like a good idea. However, wouldn't you have to synch the giveaways with your free Kindle days (which I believe are only 5 per 90 days)? Or do you upload your book separately to LibaryThing? In that case, it might effect your Kindle listing. I believe that to be eligible for KDP it has to be exclusive with Amazon.

Hi Larry. Good question. You actually will need to email a digital copy of your book to each person who requested it. When your giveaway is over, you will get a list of all the people who wanted your book, along with their email addresses.

      thank you very much lila

i have a question - when i publish my book does it matter how quickly i get reviews for the book ie as soon as it is published? to make the book seem 'fresh'?

and do for the library, or lending on other sites do you advertise as 'free or for 99c or what ever price you want it to be?

and do you use KDP? i heard that KDP is not good for some reason, although i cannot remember why

Thanks for the tip...it does not keep me from wanting to use kdp select because none of the reviews from this method would show as being a verified purchase from Amazon...that matters to some people. Also, posting a promotion eventually increases your rank (though initially decreases your rank) due to the amount of downloads.

If it is not published on the site and sold there it should not be a violation of kdp tos.

I think you need to be a little cautious about this if your Kindle book is already up on Amazon, whether in the lending library or not.

The way I read Amazon's terms of service, they have the exclusive distribution rights while your book is in their program. Even if LibraryThing does not post or distribute your book, you will have to if you send out a copy to be reviewed and you are thereby a distributor.

Not true Steve. They have no exclusivity unless your books are in the Kindle Select program. You are free to sell it elsewhere and anywhere you like.

Looks interesting, and I'll be following this thread with interest.

LilaJade, you're relatively new here, so I'll pass on a bit of advice...

The formatting, graphics, etc. in your post make it look a lot like a sales letter, which is not allowed in the main discussion area. I'm afraid that some people will see what looks like a sales offer and report it. If enough do it, the thread disappears until a mod reviews it, and may never be seen again.

Including the screen shots is fine, but plain text will get the job done and the header image is overkill.

    Hi everyone,

When you are in the KDP program you give Amazon exclusive distribution for paid copies. You cannot SELL the book anywhere else but you can list your book on other sites and giveaway review copies.

    LilaJade thanks for the suggestion.

I haven't got my head round the giveaway for a review as it relates to a paid book on Amazon but I'm off to do some more reading. I am slowly taking all my books off the KDP Select - I hate not having choices.

However, now I've signed up at LibraryThing I've listed all my published books. It's an extra link to my books and I need all the links I can get.

If a book is enrolled in the Kindle Select program then offering it free through the website mentioned in the first post would appear to be against Amazon's terms for the Select program.

The question and answer below is taken from Amazon's page at https://kdp.amazon.com/self-publishi...=A6KILDRNSCOBA.

"If my book appears to be available for sale or distribution on another website, is it eligible for KDP Select?
No. If your book is marketed in a way that indicates it is available for distribution, for sale or for free, then it is not eligible for KDP Select. For example, one of the possible indicators that the book is available for distribution may be the presence of instructions on another website or sales channel for downloading or obtaining the book."

Obviously it is up to each Kindle publisher to decide whether or not the benefits of the Kindle Select program outweigh those gained from the website in post 1. It seems as if you can't have both, at least not at the same time.

It will boil down to how Amazon defines "Available for distribution" - is a 100 copy limit on review copies restrictive enough to avoid being dropped from the program? Only Amazon knows for sure, and from what I'm reading in their terms, they're leaving themselves some wiggle room.

I gave it a try this week. I posted 100 ebook for review. In two days I received 22 requests for my book. I am testing the 30 days first. I want to see if I can get 100 request or more.
This will work well because I will release my third book Cynthia Clayton FBI Special Agent: Vixen Vampire in 5 weeks.

Guys, I really don't see how Amazon could possibly have an issue with you posting an ad saying you're giving away a set amount of review copies. I'll email them about this just to be 100% sure, but I'm pretty sure that they mean it shouldn't be available online for download anywhere else.

KDP Select issue or not, this is an awesome way to get reviews and I will be doing it! If you want to be safe, simply do this BEFORE putting your book in the KDP select program...once you have your reviews then put it in the program and you have nothing to worry about.

    Hey guys,

I did this method for 3 of my books and got 3 review from it.

I think my total time investment was about 1 hour, including sending all the files out. But my books are non-fiction. I think you'll get a much response on LibraryThing.com if you have a good fiction work.

    Good luck!
