Blog comments are great too once you get rid of the idea that they are only good for backlinks.

      Writeaway,

Is there any problem with posting quality content on blogs that are not related to your particular website? I guess what I'm really wondering is if the search engine Gods will punish your blog if you do this.

Well, with Penguin 2.0 being more 'comprehensive' (Matt Cutts' word not mine) than Penguin 1.0. It is PRUDENT to focus on blogs that are related to your site. Put it this way-the kws targeted by the blog you're commenting on should be within the same theme cluster of your target kws. ABOVE ALL ELSE, focus on blogs that are related to your website so you can build a CONVERSATION between your content and the blog you're commenting on. This is the best way to do blog comments. Everything else is susceptible to being labeled SPAM. Also, most blogs are NO FOLLOW nowadays so by focusing on cross-blog BRANDING, you are laying the groundwork for great and sustainable traffic.

Used to be a good way a few but as a domain owner of 12 websites It annoys me when you get people just commentating just for links half the time in my word-Press sites I just ban them by IP and have done with it love banning the ones where the names "Make money online" or Free Viagra on a internet marketing or golf blog for example, which some people try to spam the posts with some stupid outside links to it. :p Most webmasters know if a comment is a valid one Google will award you because people are actually using your site.

My favourite Traffic is Media Buying and Article Marketing, And content that's valuable to the user, I Always stick with the ones Google loves you can't go wrong with that.

I'm not really sure yet. I would really like to just buy it and turn a profit. That's so much simpler. I guess unless you outsource it. But probably content publishing and getting in front of someone's audience is the good old standby.

A word of warning. Don't waste your time with IM/MMO groups on FB. The larger ones are spam nests. People who join don't click other people's links. Waste of time?

could you expand on this more? been looking at KDP for a while, but I would think a lot of that traffic stays on Amazon... how do you get them to your site? just throw a link up and hope? or is there some call to action copy thats going into your book descriptions?

Ive had a ton of page one videos ranking on page one for weeks in several niches. Only a few survived though.

I have found that the competition will try and get your videos/ account suspended.

I once had 10 youtube accounts suspended in one day! I wasnt doing anything spammy or anything like that!?

For this reason ive moved on to more secure longterm free traffic sources like facebook groups and fan pages.

I still use youtube every now and then though for some quick free leads.

done that. Not a conversion just yet, but there were a few clicks so far. I just didn't get results just yet as I was too new for the titles and correctly working the titles. Now I have learned more and forgit a couple things, and now remembered those things and will try over again.

Posting offers to my thousands Tagged friends, thousands of Myspace friends, Facebook friends, Twitter followers, etc. is 1 of my favorite sources of free traffic. Took a while to get all those friends though...

Placing free classified ads on Backpage, CL, USfreeads, OLX also is a fave of mine.

YouTube, Scribd, articles with low competition keywords posted on Web 2.0 sites also get some traffic.

My consultant has been putting together this system that combines Facebook, blog curation, authority site forum and a gated web network, with a second stage coming focusing on YouTube and the like. It looks pretty good so far, but it is a large project and took a bit of patience. It is picking up good steam, though. The idea is not to have to count on search traffic but take advantage of it with your own network.

My personal favorite "traffic" at this time is Facebook that is free and works. I started a group today...made a post in a bunch of groups and I did get people joining my groups.

To me, that says it works.

At the end of the day, how many signups will it lead to.

    That is the value.

yes...I do. The only time there is a dollar figure attached to my time is when it's obligated to tasks that I am being paid for. Being paid for your time is not the same thing as investing your time.

I call it FREE traffic because I am not paying anything for it. I am INVESTING my time in something that could pay off later....that time does not cost anything and it typically does not deter from anything that I am getting paid to do... so yes....it is FREE.

I agree with traffic with YOUTUBE vids.

Not only is this engaging, VIDEO is not going anywhere, infact in the next 5 years its more likely to grow, so if you have a video on your hard drive and it is not driving traffic to your site, you need to put it up to YOUTUBE, in JUNE I found a video I did on my hard drive, silly of me to leave it there, caues it was high quality, since I uploaded to youtube I have received over 14,000 views and several sales from this, so youtub is good.

I am yet to try the paid yotube traffic, as paid video ads, however there was a warrior that said it did not work for him.

here is a really good secret for newbies to know.

There is not such thing as free traffic. You either pay for traffic with our money, (this stuff takes time)

    Or....

You paid for FREE traffic with you TIME (this is something you can never get back)

Just so you know I get massive results with paid traffic with bing, yahoo, facebook....they are the best paid traffic I think.

I do not know any gurus that kill it with FREE traffic, they sort of laugh in a way at free traffic, sorry to say, they all do pay traffic cause they know its high quality and scalable traffic fast.

In saying that u need to realise I am not against FREE traffic, as I have used it over the years and youtube videos bring in for me, very high quality subscribers who buy. So I am not against it, however I would say PAID traffic is the way to go if you want to take your business to the next level.

    Forums and Facebook.

If you post on forums related to your sites niche and provide value to the community then you can get a lot of targeted traffic. If you have a fan page on Facebook with a lot of targeted likes, then you can drive a lot of traffic to your site through that too. There are other sources I use such as Youtube and Twitter, but I find Facebook and forums the easiest.

    Guest blogging.

Even those that don't advertise accepting guest articles may be open to the idea if you give them a reason why they should.

    For example, you can:

    - Trade articles with the blogger (so that they get to post an article on your blog too).

    - Use the blog owner's affiliates links in your article, so that they make money when their readers buy a product.

    - Offer something else attractive in trade, such as an endorsement in your newsletter.

    Thanks!
So Far, my favorite free traffic source comes from free solo ads. I send out at least 20 free ads at once, that go out to as many as 70-100k total readers. Depending on the day of the week - WEDs most the time- I will generate great traffic that turn into some signups as well.

I've had success with a safe list called listjumper.com it's the most responsive, I always got at least 3 - 6 leads a day, and they're all buyers of some kind of affiliate program and don't know what they're doing just following directions.

I've some large sales there too, other safe list I stopped messing with but that one was always good to me.

I like to link to my blog/my WSO from my signature box on various web 2.0 websites.

Because of the inherent search engine authority of those sites, with a little SEO/LSI sprinkled in, I can generally get some nice free traffic from people finding those articles in search....and, then clicking through the links in my signature box. It's not rocket science, and it's a great way to get free traffic.

I like building a real following on Twitter and then driving traffic with it.

If people are following you because you've targeted a niche and are providing value, they will click your links.

    Clarification:

What I mean is...say you want followers who are into tennis. You make your handle something like tennisauthority or w/e, and you tweet high value tweets to hashtags related to that niche. Do it consistently and you'll amass actual followers who are more likely to be receptive to your links. Then just don't spam. Keep it at a 1/5 ratio between promotional and non-promotional links.

It takes time but it's worth it.

Besides placing free online classified ads on CL, Backpage, USfreeads, OLX and other sites, which I mentioned before, another good way is to create a Facebook page for your blog(s) and then find Facebook pages similar to yours and make helpful comments on them and leave the link to your own Facebook page (which will have links to your blog).

Another way is to distribute documents (can be 3 or 4 page ebooks you create from PLR articles) on Scribd and other document sharing sites. In your documents you distribute, ask readers to Tweet your document to their own followers or share it on Facebook.

Never underestimate the power of video and forums combined. tried a product? Make a short video review of it and make it honest. If it's crap say why you think it's crap, you don't have to sell all the time. Reputation and honesty will get you far. If you have taken the time to make a video that saves people money because they were going to buy junk, you get the credit for that.

You may annoy some product owners along the way but sorry, release sub-standard products and you will get exposed, it's how it should be but does not mean you have to be nasty about it.

Got an amazing product, let people on related forums know about it. They are as targeted as you will get and they will appreciate your effort. The traffic built on trust and gratitude is already warm. It's so simple and so few people do it.

Amazon for ebooks is another great one and I have seen some amazing results with slideshare. High PR e-book sites can also help you rank exceptionally well.
