What does matter?

Revenue and Traffic!

If your getting constant high traffic and making money daily you can sell your website for a high value. Focus on those two things alone and you can be successful flipping websites.

Example:https://flippa.com/2926153-pr-1-game...k-pageviews-mo

I was just browsing the soon to end listings and I found that listing.

$5000 bucks, not too bad for a PR 1 site. However, that seems fairly low for a site making $1200 per month. The cost is only about 4 times the monthly income. Isn't 10 to 20 times more standard?

OMG! I would have had a lot more than that for a website which is actually making $1200 because in 5 months I can actually get more out of it. Let me know if you have other website which is making around that amount of money.

            Regards,

The site doesn't belong to OP. He found that on Flippa while browsing.

And the site was not sold at that price. Guess the site owner is not crazy lol

The auction probably didn't have a BIN, and if it did it probably was 8-12 times the monthly revenue, and that is probably why it didn't sell. Flippa can some times be a hit/miss when it comes to listing your websites.

See, like many times the buyers are like eBay buyers so often, Cheap bas****s. That site is easily worth at least $12K, and more like $43K in a real world. that is only three times annual earnings. In the brick and mortar world, a business will often go for ten times earnings. I assume that is a real business, so why not?

Im going to have to respectfully disagree here.

      1) A website (like anything else) is only worth what people will pay for it.

      2) This particular site only has 4 months of income history. No one in there right mind would pay 10-12X monthly income for a business that only has 4 months of income history. Consistent income is just as important as monthly income. Had this site been making $1200 per month average for the last 2 years then yea I could see it going for a nice premium. Hoever it only has 4 months history. Things get hot and cold super fast on the internet. Honestly $5500 wasnt a bad price for a site that has not yet build up any real income history.

Correct me if I am wrong, but he doesn't say or show where is traffic is coming from? Sure, $1200 a month sounds good, but he could be paying nearly the same each month in paid traffic.

    I completely agree with you.

At the end of the day, it is all about revenue and traffic.

Your domain name and your contents mean nothing, if you have no revenue/traffic.

Check out this Flippa Auction. Its unsold though. Highest bid was 58,000$ But, its an excellent case study to see how Virtual Assets are also being sold as a package while Flipping Site.

What do you people think, is this site worth 58000$ ?

40% of the monthly income came from freelance writing gigs the owner got as a result of people seeing the site and requesting similar articles. Could be why it didn't sell.

Yeah. In addition to that, she's catching quite a bit of flack about the site being branded around her. Which makes sense. If her audience views her as the brand, when she sells her site, they're just going to follow her to her next site. Leaving the buyer high and dry.

I dont know there is some pretty sick domains selling with zero site and revenue going for thousands. technology.com was going for like 7k thats gravy for a 10 dollar domain.

1 word domains can be hot property on Flippa

But yes agree with OP revenue and traffic proof are essential

    But for higher earnings

    Good PR
    Good content
    Good design
    Good domain etc

    Are very important

The sales page and dealing with bidders is equally important

Flipping new websites is a dying business model in my opinion.

The key factor to me is how much free traffic you can generate outside of google (and easy)

      CBusiness,

Of course is your opinion. But that will be the case for people doing it the wrong way.
Website "Development" and flipping remains good business.

Wow! That's an amazing adsense result for that site. It's really handy that Flippa allows verified adsense. That's a nice site.

I think the reason a site might get only 5x monthly earning rather than 15 or 20 is because people are nervous that some change will roll out and end their earnings.

Obviously if you could be guaranteed the site would continue to earn ~$1000 a month, you'd pay big for it. That's a better monthly cash flow than a small investment property.
