Really interesting polling method I found

I was randomly reading this page and saw the polling method (you will see it when you visit the page).

The page requires you to answer their poll in order to read the full article you are trying to view.

I have seen paywalls and email opt-in requirements for viewing before, but never a poll used like this.

I wonder if there is any big potential for IM'ers to use something like this to our advantage, maybe for surveying our website visitors. What do you think?

Personally when I see something like that or optin before reading the full article / content,,,,, I simply close that page..
Not interested in a forced poll or optin. I think such optin are always useless as the person will soon optout after reading the content...
In forced poll, you might not get the honest answers as well...

just my thoughts, I might be wrong and have a different approach but thats how I feel about it...

That poll actually asks 2 questions. I might answer the first, but that second one popping up would really make me mad. And I agree that it wouldn't take long before I just randomly clicked an answer, rather than reading the question, making the results of the poll unusable.

Polls like these are usually useless since forcing people to take polls will just encourage them to close the page immediately or will just randomly choose answers even without reading the questions just to be done with it. It is true though that people may answer the first question but another question popping will already annoy them.
