I need some brainstorming ideas for a domain I bought months ago shouldiget.com. Don't go there cause it's not up and running I just need something to get me pushed in a direction and at this point any direction that I can evolve cause it's going nowhere at this point.

My initial vision was an affiliate site but can't figure out the framework for the site. I feel it could have the potential to promote anything and everything, but don't want it to look like a junk site. Do I make subdomains for each product keeping things clean, do I just make categories and subdivisions for each product and keep them all accessible as people thumb through the site? Ugh I have no vision and can use help.

I think what I really need are examples. Can anyone point me towards, or are running themselves a larger type site that promotes multiple unrelated products? Please not walmart.com I am thinking click bank or amazon products with shouldiget in mind. Thank you.

Hmmm....
          Thanks for the link

better yet run it as some kind of an opinion poll site.

For example I redecorate my lounge and decided to buy a new sofa, I can't decide between two styles of sofa so I launch a poll on your website and people can vote on which one they think would look best in the newly decorated room.

I might be missing the point of what you want to do, hell i'm stealing this idea ...

Yes - this is very much the question. I don't know.

My limited experience of something slightly similar may be of no interest/relevance, here. I have a couple of mostly-Amazon "gift sites" myself but I don't market them with SEO at all. They promote only cheap items (one is books/CD's and the other is gifts mostly under $20). The commissions aren't worth talking about, but the monthly sales volumes keep me qualified for the highest commission-levels on all the other, more expensive Amazon stuff that I promote through my email marketing (via sites - without actually putting Amazon affiliate-links in the emails) in my various specific niches. I'm really doing it only as a way round Amazon's weird system of fixing monthly affiliate commission-levels according to numbers of items sold. I generate most of my traffic to these "gift sites" by email, because I have some big lists and they're stuff that "almost anyone" might buy. I do write a bit about music and books, myself, and have also done a little bit of what one might almost call "article marketing" for the CD's/books site, but only because I enjoy it. A strange "system", I know. In short, for me it's not a business in its own right (though I don't doubt that the sites linked to above are): it's just a "facilitator" for something else. So not much help to you - sorry.

Indecision I appreciate the input. You're not missing any point, the point is I am not good at thinking outside the box and am looking for whatever response might spark that idea that hits home. Thank you.

Alexa, it's always helpful to see what works for someone. Thanks for sharing.

If I would have that domain. I must run it as honest WSO review site. I already own one and going good. But the domain you have would be the best choice for my kind of work. Well, let me tell you more about this.. I would write honest reviews of WSOs I like before their launches and would do SEO to promote them and also would make the list at the same time.. Other review sites I found around are crap tbh. But if you write unique and honest reviews and some insights then people will appreciate you by buying from you.

Hey MoneyMaker2012, wanna buy a domain? could you pm me your site? Not to steal business but to consider my options with that idea in other niches. It's a good idea.

Focus on stuff that you like, then if the site doesn't make money, you'll still have fun. The wacky gift site idea is a great one!

Perhaps you can consider a humor site that posts stories based around the premise of "should I get _______"

A comparable site could be FML: Your everyday life stories Other than that, I cannot suggest that you create an internet mall or an ecommerce store using that name. It would be really difficult to brand that domain name as an ecommerce store. I'd focus on humor, or I'd just sell the domain. Yeah, maybe you should sell the domain.

Roblawrence, I do want to focus on something I will be passionate about. My other site is all about my career field and I love contributing to that site. Now that it is kind of on auto pilot when it comes to content creation, I am looking to try my hand in a more broad market. Of course that means much more competition.

TheRealDudeman, thanks for the link, that's an interesting idea also. Ecommerce seems like a lot of detailed work and something that will get lost in the sea of similar sites. I like the link and it also gives me some ideas. As for selling, I've got the domain for a year so I will take the time to think about it and work with it. It took my other website three of four designs before I finally settled on what I wanted it to be. Let's hope my followers want it to be that too
