Just a rough ballpark. Say I want to make an ebook about just a general topic like knitting or training puppies. and I want it to be around 75-80 pages.
Whats a rough idea of what that woud cost.
I dont know if its $50, $500 or $5,000.

also does the price vary drastically depending on the topic?
thanks for any insight on this. Im totally new to product creation.

Find some free PLR on the subject, re-write it and you have your book for free.

      Hi there,

I am assuming there would be something relevant in Clickbank that you could use.

      Another option.

i asked about PLR before and it was explained to me...and im still a little confused on the details of it
If I use someone elses materials then I need to credit them, right?
or do you mean just use their material as a rough guideline?

Whenever I do work I always hire writers, if I do it myself it will never get done and ill never make money lol

Why does everyone assume that people can write or rewrite things or have the time to do it?

    Hi,

Go to rent a coder or elance, you can get the ebook written, the sales page and even email put together for about $1000. You might be able to get it cheaper, but you must make sure to have a look at previous work they have done.

    Hope this helps

    Peace

So what does that leave? Finding the niche market in the first place, sorting out affiliates to sell it for you, using your own/others lists and using your own websites to promote the ebook?

you'll learn there are many ways to collect content for your ebooks, but if you specifically want one written by a freelancer then a good ballpark is anywhere from $50 up to a few hundred. If you were paying more than $300 make sure you can justify the increase in quality and quantity. Yes there are some writers who are better than others, but as long as they understand your needs and have the ability to write well formed stories/advice you can go with almost anyone.

A great way is actually to find someone that is above the lowest bid you get (see previous post) and if the final product comes back less than perfect then put it to an editor for corrections. Much much cheaper than going for someone that is overly pedantic who is going to spend forever on revisions and charge like a wounded bull.

Try elance, guru, limeexchange, rentacoder, ifreelance. Check their previous work and be sure they understand your niche!!

Another suggestion would be invest in some training material on how to quickly write good eBook content. But that is only applicable if you're interested in producing the copy yourself, it's a great skill to learn in this business!

ok I just re-read the PLR explanations and think I understand it better.
It just sounds too good to be true. I can buy a PLR ebook on a subject, change a couple of sentences and BAM, i have a new product for pennies on the dollar?
I thought i would be spending way more money on producing products, so this is nice

      50 pages.
Approx. 350 words per page (min).
      Total 17,500+ words.

That's $175 at a mere penny per word.

And remember, the OP is asking "to have a great ebook written".

Great for less than a penny or two per word?

      Good luck with that.

The only way that happens is if you win the crazy freelancer lottery or if your definition of "great" is very loose.

      Just sayin'.

    To answer your original question..

A "rough ballpark" would be to budget at around $0.04 per
    word.

A page is usually around 300 words and, therefore, an ebook
of 80 pages would consist of 24,000 words.

So to have an ebook of 80 pages written from scratch should
    cost around $960.

As this would be commissioned on a "work for hire" basis, the
copyright of the book would be yours and you wouldn't find
other people selling similar books; which is what happens when
several people "re-write" PLR from the same source.

If you use PLR make sure you check your rights first. Some providers do not allow you to have copyright of the material. Others do not allow you to sell or pass on the source code. Every content provider would have their own rights.

Also something which some people forget, using PLR means you didn't create the book yourself, and you can't sell it as a wso. No rehashed or reused PLR is allowed in the WSO.

It actually depends on the ghostwriter you will choose. You want a great writer, pay a huge price. There are other talented writers though who ask for a fair price.
