What should an email signup button SAY?

What do you think is the best call to action for a button on an email signup form?

Does your experience suggest using "sign up" or "subscribe" or "join us now" or "get emails" or what?

Note: I'm not talking about the sales copy to attract and entice the visitor to fill out the form, only the word or words you recommend using in the button itself...

Suggestions? Anyone studied this and have numbers to back up a recommendation?

Thanks.

The only test that matters is your own. If someone says the word x has worked best for them, it's not a reason for you to use it also since every market will react differently and it also depends a lot on what is being presented on the rest of the page.

This is definitely something you need to test yourself.

I would have it a guess that words like 'Subscribe' or 'Get Emails' wouldn't work very well because a subscription can have negative connotations as can receiving a bunch of emails.

The first thing I would test is something simple like 'Get Instant Access' or if you have a report or something like that, 'Send Me The Report'.

I would have the label suggest a benefit, such as "Send
Me Exclusive Updates" or "Share The Latest Insider Tips."

Maybe shorter phrases, but pointing out a benefit of
    subscribing.

You should be using words like 'instant access' or 'free video' or 'secret revealed' it should sound more like a giveaway than anything else

A good start would be to find the successful marketers in your niche and see what they are using. Find a couple of them and then split test the ones that are already proven in your niche. Let the numbers tell you the facts

There are endless options, just test what works.

On various sites I find a wide range of things work including "Let's do this!", "Sign me up" "Give me access", "Make me awesome" and all sorts of other things. I only find out by testing.
