    Hi Alan,

You can find hundreds of Photoshop Video tutorials on Youtube. I suggest you to go to Youtube.com and search for "photoshop tutorial" and you can find lot of short video tutorials.

    Hope this helps,
    Ali.

I became really good with Photoshop via Lynda.com (worth every penny) and Good-Tutorials.com.

Lynda.com is very good as Ant says. Personally I tend to use Youtube, especially for specific issues - there's normally someone out there that thrown up a short freebie tutorial on the subject you're looking for.

That aside, given the reasons you mention, maybe photoshop is a bit overkill. If you've got the Adobe package then have you tried Fireworks? A lot less steep learning curve and a great little graphics program for churning out web-safe stuff.

There's also some some very capable free graphics packages such as Gimp.

    I highly recommend Lynda.com and Totaltraining.com or Kelbytraining.com

If you would like to get tutorials for free, then check out Itunes, and search for free videos.

You should definetely subscribe to Photoshop UserTV to get some really cool tips.

    Hope this helps!

    Best Wishes,

I first learned from visual learning guides if you don't mind looking at books. I found them helpful. But I also have heard great things about lynda.com.

Thanks Much Warriors. Just what I was looking for to improve my skills in Photoshop. By the way, what kind of resources do they offer at Lynda.com? I've heard much about it especially here in the forum, but haven't got the time to check it out.

First, it sounds like you really need cropping and resizing based on your original post. For that kind of stuff, Photoshop is overkill. Even Microsoft Office 2007 has built in photoediting software now that will do all of that kind of stuff and more.

I would recommend Photoshop Express (free online service) that will allow you to resize and optimize your image. For more advanced manipulation, try Photoshop Elements... it is just like photoshop, but with some of the super-advanced features stripped out and includes wizards for doing the stuff you need.

DO NOT pay for learning/tutorial resources. There are plenty out there.

Youtube is great. Just type "photoshop tutorial" into the search and you will find plenty of short nuggets.

Google will be your friend as well.

However, for video based training here are my two favorite resources:

    1. Tutorial Training for Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Dreamweaver, Flash, PageMaker, After Effects, Premiere, HTML, JavaScript, CSS, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and Many More. Learn How To with our easy to use training.

    2. Tutorials - Online Training - lynda.com

For the first don't buy from their site buy from their auctions on ebay as they are usually cheaper. Also only buy one product from them and they request a link to the previous customer discount offer page. They have some tremendous discount offers for previous customers.

For Lynda.com search the net for a free trial coupon. You can find trials ranging from 24 hours to a week. You can use this to check it out. Lynda.com is a real bargain.
