What % of your posts have affiliate links?

Hi guys, I'm new to affiliate markting and just started a week ago my newest website. I have now about 6 posts and was wondering what is normal amount of affiliate links.

I provide good value in every article (self written), but I guess it might be too much to include an affiliate link on every article I make. How much of your posts have an affiliate link?

I think I can add in everyone, 1 good related affiliate link but not sure if that is overkill. What are your thoughts?

For me I think it's around 20% I think. I'm not in for the short run and usually provide value in my posts while keeping promotions to a minimum. Even the posts that do promote a product offer a lot of value.

Others might think differently but for me I try to avoid pitching my audience often.

I only put them where appropriate never just for the sake of getting an affiliate link in every post.

Someone has to be the first to say "none", or "0%", and it may as well be me, since that happens to be true.

Then how are you monetizing your blog?

          Like this: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5721774

I didn't say that there are no affiliate links on any of my blogs. I said that there are none in my blog-posts/articles. That's one of the things that helps me to build my lists and form trust-based, respect-based relationships with my subscribers: they value my content partly because (in contrast to what's on the sites of so many affiliate marketers) it doesn't look overtly promotional.

My blog-posts inform, educate and entertain: they don't sell. I'm an affiliate, not a vendor. I let the vendors do the selling, and I select them according to their ability to sell to my subscriber-traffic.

Many affiliates seem a little confused between "selling" and "pre-selling", and in terms of opportunity-cost, that's one of the more expensive confusions you can have.

And no - I don't use my father's credit-cards, but thanks for your concern, Social App Zone.

I don't think there's really a one-size-fits-all correct response. I would say that it depends on the type of site, content, how often you plan to post and the products you are promoting. Sorry to be vague

But if you wanted to promote a product in the form of a product review type post, you may try doing one every few posts or so and see what results you get.

Because if you're going to be writing a lot of content and posting on a regular basis, then putting links in every single one could end up being a bit overkill in my opinion.

Personally, about 20% of my posts contain an affiliate link.

The other 80% are just good solid content (I think!), but more importantly, about half of these have a link in the post which links to another post which DOES have an affiliate link in.

Allright thanks Romeo, that's the way I am doing it right now.

I have a comparision chart with different dumbbels on a small budget. I talk in other post about using dumbbells and stuff and link to the page with the chart where they can compare and buy if they like.

Quite perfect with numeric data. Is these percentage are the standards or just practice?

I don't like throwing random affiliate links at my visitors, especially because I mainly blog about problems my audience has.
Therefore I like the solution to link them to a related post where the affiliate link fits perfectly.

I keep my visitors on my blog, build trust and then convert them into buyers.

    Best regards!

Is there any possibility to become harmful for business if I use more than one affiliate link?

you can add your affiliate link once in every post that you make. for me i think it doesn't hurt to see it once in an article. but be sure that it is appropriate to your post.

I promote my own product.. So, I don't think I have any affiliate links :p

But anyway, for my blog posts, most of them ask people to sign up (email capture). Only 1 or 2 of them direct them immediately to my sales page.

I was taught to keep promotional links out of post, by no other than John Thornhill. Alternative is to place text links in sidebar, take a look at John's blog.

I never stopped to think about a percentage either. I do put affiliate links in posts where appropriate, but then again I don't write posts for the sole purpose of hanging affiliate links (or my own, for that matter) on them.

Say I was doing a post on cleaning fish. One of the tools of the trade is a really good, really sharp knife. I might comment that while many knives on the market are okay, I invested in a commercial grade knife that sharpens easily and stays sharp. Anyone interested can see which one I chose here (aff link).

Some posts may have 3-4 links like that, many others have none.

I guess you could say that I have blogs with affiliate links, but I don't do 'affiliate blogs'.
