You Need money to make money

Hi everyone,

"You need money to make money". This is probably one of my most hated phrases and I cringe everytime I hear it.

I would love to know what your thoughts are on this? Whether you believe its true or not? Also any examples you could give to back up your argument.

Very interested to see what people have to say about this!

Cheers
Will

No. Your money needs to make money, have your money work for you, don't work for your money.

Money helps, but it isn't necessary.

I can make money from a free Blogger blog, an affiliate product to sell on it
      and a few articles.

      Total cost...$0

Having said that, investing in your business is going to make it grow faster
provided you make the right investments.

Trust me, money can be thrown away on pure crap.

I very much agree with this. You will have to spend money in order to make money.

Few days back I purchased 250 unique articles for cheap and later I flipped them for a profit of more than $800. If I didn't have money in my paypal account, I would not have been able to make profit. So if you are an entreprenuer you need to invest money in order to make money.

    Great stuff...

I was thinking about this when my businesses successes were completely disproportional to the amount of money I had initially invested in them. it was purely dependent on value offered.

But yet time and time again people are so adamant that you need money.. My belief is an excuse to not get started!

Yes, i think you need money to make money, but just having money is not enough, it should be spent on the right things and for the right reasons.

A more correct statement is that success in business requires investment. That investment can be either money or time. ..and time is money. Therefore; you need 'money' to make money

Fair statement... but if we take it to the letter.. then you don't need money in its physical sense.. just time and persistence.. no?

Even if you don't make a direct monetary investment in your business, you still have basic needs that need to be met - food, clothing, shelter. Someone is paying for those while you start your 'don't need no money' business.

So I'd say yes, you do need money to make money. It just doesn't have to be your money.

Yes you are quite right. Time is also an investment.

Starting online requires a minimal investment. If you can't buy one domain and get a $7-10/month hosting plan, I don't think you are in a position to do business anywhere.

That said - the "must spend to earn" is often a phrase used by people justifying their own purchases of one ebook or WSO after another, or jumping on the latest big money launch, etc.

Making a small investment in getting started is necessary for a good start - buying from sales page after sales page isn't investment....it's buying dreams.

No, you don't need money to start making money.

I created a free Blogger blog, created my own product, listed it for sale on the blog using E-Junkie (with a free trial), and started building my mailing list with the free getresponse option.

BUT once I started making money, I reinvested it immediately and upgraded everything (the AR and the E-Junkie acct.).

That is pretty much what I was going to say. I started out with a free blog that made some money then I spent the earned money on hosting, domains etc so I can officially say that you can start without a penny then use the money you make to make more.

BTW - if you have someone who says they don't have $$$ to buy your program or $$$ to invest in hosting, etc. - get them started with a freebie system. Then they can re-invest their profits.

Buy real estate now!!!! there flogging flats and houses in a uction near me for less then £40,000 , and they was valued around £80,000+ just a year ago

anyone in the right mind would save these houses and flats for future when the real estate picks up, the meantime you can rent it out and still pick up £600+ a month in rent

Nope, I started with a free blogger blog, got some traffic with article marketing and blog comments, once I made money, I invested in my education (bought a cheap ebook), got more traffic, made more money, then I invested, then I got EVEN more traffic, made even MORE money...

Now, I invest MORE and earn MORE.

    That's it,

You don't really need money to make money, but it sure helps to speed the process up.

Yes, you need money to make money. Not necessarily a lot of money, but you do need.

And you also need smarts... to invest your money properly.

You do need money to make money. Maybe not money to join a particular program but there will be domains to buy, adwords and ppc fees, other advertising costs. I guess you could do it all for free but it would be harder and take longer.

      I completely agree!

Unless you want to start with search marketing(PPC).
