[HELP] Creating website

Hi everyone, I am quite new to IM.
Let's say what I know:
- Find a niche --- DONE
- Create a website --- TO DO
- Create something that can attire your future customers like articles and stuff like that --- EASY TO DO
- Create products you have to sell --- EASY TO DO
- Ecc ecc ---- I KNOW ALL THOSE STUFF

So...?

I do not know hot to build a website.

Any good guide or help for me?

There are lots of Website builders available in Internet through which you can make some good and professional looking websites. There are most of web hosting companies who can provide free website builder with their hosting plans.

There are various possible solutions to this, including "learning", "outsourcing" and so on.

One suggestion is to start here: Weebly - Create a free website and a free blog

(You'll need the "pro" hosting, not the free service, to have no advertising from the host on your pages - obviously essential! But start off with the free one, just to see if you like it).

It's about the easiest-to-use site builder you'll find.

It's also a much better host than people widely credit it as being.

I have some sites there which are now in their fifth successful year.

There are also many other services like that, including Yola, Wix and about a dozen others. What matters is to stay away from the "Web 2.0" kinds like Blogger, Wordpress.com, and so on, where you can never own or control your own site and will for ever be at the mercy of the hosting company, with their ever-changeable restrictions and regulations, and their inconsistent and idiosyncratic interpretations of them.

You'll have no difficulty at all: most people find pretty difficult all the things you apparently find very easy, and know a lot less than you do. Myself included.

There is a smilar thread around and most members said wordpress is the best choice for building a free website, although I remember some users recomended weebly, so I suppose both are alright.

I haven't used Weebly but wordpress is seriously ridiculously easy to use and you can produce some amazing websites yourself. At first, I thought it would be difficult but that's not the case. There are plenty of tutorials on how to use it aswell.

Go with the WordPress option mate. Not only it is easy to manage your sites, but it also Google's favorite CMS (Content Management System).

I learnt how to use WordPress in less than three days.

Once you get your domain and hosting sorted its a piece of piss.

And there are plenty of youtube tutorials, plugins, themes and widgets that you can use to develop your site even further!

You can either hire a professional to create a website for you, or you can use any free website builder you find of Google if you type: "Website Builder".

Those steps...get a hosting program, buy a domain, set up your nameservers, install Wordpress...they can sound intimidating because of all the new words.

After you've gone through the process one time, it'll be easy. The longest wait will be for cpanel to open! There are plenty of vids on youtube explaining each step. You can set up a domain in 10 minutes with Wordpress installed, and once the nameservers redirect is active (often in a half-hour or less) you can start creating your site.

Picking out the theme is the thing I spend the most time on.

After that, there's a standard list of plugins to be installed. These protect your site and make it easier to work with. But after the first time of setting the site up, it's easy.

In the short term you can go with WordPress. You'll quickly encounter situations where you want to modify a template though. So thinking long term, you should also learn HTML/CSS to make the modifications. Then eventually work on PHP and you can take the WordPress training wheels off and just code your own site from scratch. Ultimately it's about escaping the confines of templates and plugins that don't quite do what you'd like.

If you are really serious about creating a website, stay out of website builders and all such gizmo gadgets out there. They give you nothing but crappy codes and unoptimized pages, which would increase the page load time

Also, if you want to learn how to create a website yourself, learn basic HTML/CSS. This way you don't need to depend on website builders, and then creating websites would be a piece of cake for you.

Of course you can install WordPress, get a good looking theme and your website is there. But remember that the hard part starts then which is formatting the pages the way you want them. Wordpress can help you a lot in doing that also, but still you might just need to learn some basic HTML/CSS. You cannot be dependent on the WYSIWYG editor of WordPress.

Perhaps it will be better if you’ll let someone else create your website for you if you don't know how to do it because creating a website is quite complicated, and it must be professional if you want to make money with it.

I advise you to create a blog first of all to test your skills. Use Blogger and make your first blog, just to learn how to use a blog to drive traffic to your offers. Learn how to create Squidoo lenses. You will find many free lessons online. Start using these free platforms to learn simple things and test your skills.

Create various blog posts and Squidoo lenses to see how a page should be before creating your website. See what works and what doesn’t work before spending money or before spending all your time creating a website that won't be the way it should be because you ignore many things.

They're just not. Sorry to be outspoken, but websites that you yourself own and control are ideal for beginners. And if you go about them the right way, they're no more difficult than Squidoo lenses. And you can even get decent free hosting for them, if really necessary.

Squidoo lenses are ideal for beginners.

Wish I had learned how to create lenses in the beginning of my adventures online.

I also advise everyone to create a Blogger blog, even though I lost 4 Blogger blogs in 2009.

They are very good for tests.

I believe that everyone should begin testing their skills in these simple platforms, but I don't advise anyone to create many lenses or depend on Blogger, just use them to learn how the internet works before doing something serious.

I regret having created so many lenses because I don't have time to update them. I understood that this was not a good idea and I stopped creating lenses, but I’m glad with the traffic my websites get thanks to the lenses I have already created. I advise everyone to create around 25 lenses and become a Giant Squid, and then stop creating them.

The OP just asked for advice. A lot of people are giving advice, which is upto the OP to decide whether he/she takes that course of action or not.

So I guess you should keep out of this thread, instead of talking negative here and clicking "thanks" on each other's posts....

LOL, this is a bit rich - you think I'm "talking negative" (I gave plenty of positive, constructive advice in post #3 above, together with reasons/explanations for it, if you remember that far back), and at the same time you're crticising me over "whose posts I choose to thank"?! That must be really helpful for the OP.

Yes it's ultimately up to the OP to decide what they should do, but if they are new, then it's also probably best if those who know better chime in and give their honest feedback and input to help the OP make a wise decision and help them navigate through the minefield of bad suggestions in this thread.

          Just my opinion.....

Why not learn how to build websites yourself? HTML, CSS and PHP is very easy to learn and shouldn't take more than a few months. Most people will tell you to use a site builder or go with WordPress. While that works, so MANY people are doing it that you won't really have a way to stand out. It's a lot better to know the technology and create your unique stuff.

Seriously: Wordpress. You don't need to know how to code, you just need to know how to click (though knowing at least a little bit of coding is helpful, especially if you want to customize the look of your site so it doesn't look *quite* so cookie cuttered).

Go with a hosting provider that will let you do the "one click install" through a thing like Fantastico (I use HostGator and it's fab). You can have at least a basic website up and running within the hour.

    THEN...AND THIS IS REALLY IMPORTANT...

Hire a pro to help you build your own website (you can even ask them to make it WordPress compatible). It's worth the expense to have something that's functional and smooth and you shouldn't have any problems affording it since you find creating and marketing products to be so easy

Squidoo lenses are like mini websites. You can learn how to promote your products online with them before deciding how to create your own website. I’m not the only one who believes that Squidoo lenses are very good for learning and testing. This idea is not mine. I simply agree with it.

Perhaps those who disagree with this idea are more intelligent and know a lot more than me, but for simple people who ignore everything about html Squidoo is very good.

    This thread is weird.

I did not see anybody ask what you will be selling.

Assuming you'll be offering information products, then probably Wordpress.
Physical products: wordpress, joomla or store builders. Wordpress and Joomla are
    content management systems.

IF you use free stuff like squidoo and blogger, then you are subject to their terms and conditions and changes in those terms and conditions, which can seriously screw up your business.

These sites should be helpful, as well as the design and programming sub forums:

As Jason suggested, Youtube has a ton of stuff showing how to do whatever you want to do.

Also, you can always hire someone to do all or the parts you can't or don't want to do. Time is money and there's something to be said for preventing brain damage.

Ok, let's introduce myself, and thanks for your patience.

My name's Alan Tonetti, I am 32 y/o italian sport journalist.
My name's very well known in my country, I was used to work for a national tv channel few years ago (everyone can check out it on google, in 2005 a video of me reached over 1.000.000 visitors on youtube and was ranked in the first 10 videos of my country).
Things on tv are not going as good as it was in the past, so I tried to find something different on my own (they haven't been paying me for the last 6 months!).
I have interest in betting and, of course, sports.
I do know very well about betting and betters, I created a Facebook fan page named "I pronostici di Alan Tonetti" (something like Alan Tonetti's tips) and reached over 500 fans without doing nothing about marketing, ads, and stuff like that in 2 months.
I created a private group where I give people much more tips than the official page, they ask me about betting systems and stuff like that.
What I ask them is to play under my "tree" in a website where I have a collaboration (they give me a % on the amount they bet each month).
Now it's time to make THE jump, create a site and a weblist, giving people tips for free, tips that they have to pay for, betting systems to sell.
      Anyone can help me?

So you take that $3,200 you've made and you pay to have a site built, and with what's left over you pay a coach an ongoing monthly fee to help you.

You should study internet marketing by reading many posts at this forum, perhaps buying an interesting WSO, and doing everything you can to learn how to market your business. Don't think that internet marketing is simple.

Before creating your website you must know many details that today you ignore. It’s not a matter of learning html, but a matter of learning how to get traffic with a website well-optimized and a website that attracts the right audience.

I think study more of the forum for free first.
See patterns and you will learn to separate the wheat from the chaff, good from bad.

But, for you, I think you want to learn how to create a sales funnel and product around your betting tips: product or service, website, blog, social media, article/video syndication, and email marketing (building a list of people who want to hear from you via email and develop a good relationship with those people).
Just focus on those for now.

You dont need a great looking site to make money with your product. There are tons of HTML editors you can use - that you can edit "ready to use" sales letters for, and many website building tools that you can use to create your site. One such option is Yahoo Site Solution.

You can get all the tutorials you need at wordpress.org to get started with a Wordpress blog.

Go to Namecheap (my recommendation) and buy a domain name related to your niche/product

Go to Hostgator (my recommendation) and buy a hosting plan

When you get the hosting plan, the welcome email will have your nameservers on it. Go to Namecheap and update the nameservers to those nameservers (use Namecheap search funtion for assistance on how to do that).

Install Wordpress on the domain (fast and easy method is to just use Fantastico from your hosting cpanel (the url of which you'll also get in your welcome email). Lots of people say how insecure that is, but I've never had a problem and a good security plugin or two will cure that risk.

Now go to Wordpress.org and learn how to use that blog. Go to Woothemes.com and get either one of their free premium themes or buy a nice one of your choice. It will make your blog look a lot nicer than those crapola free themes that come with Wordpress.

That's the basics. If you have zero knowledge of building sites, doing an html site will be a lot bigger learning curve.

Use Wix or Wordpress - wordpress can give you a bunch of plug-ins and you'll be able to add a lot of features... if you want a basic website, wix is easy to use and just use examples of websites that are in you niche ... you should have a design and you should have opt-in spots for your product on every page and multiple spots at one time

hit me up if you want more advice 'shafinazahrad@gmail.com'
