Scraping Travel/Holiday data

Hello there

I have a client who wants to scrape travel or holiday data to either promote or sell but could not find out how the big providers get their data, or otherwise curate or where they get the data from.

Other than providers selling/distributing their content through APIs, CSV, XML, they themselves offer this and you pay them for this service; he wishes to create this own independent service.

However, I am not sure where to scrape travel data from, whether software for this already exists, or where the big holiday companies get their data from.

    What kind of data are you looking for specifically? If it's publically available on various travel websites you could write a scraper in python or some other language that catalogs it all for you.

    The holiday data in the UK is provided by a handful of suppliers, KwickText and another one which I cannot recall right now. As I understand it, the client wants to find out "where they are getting their data from", or "scrape holiday offers from other sources".

    I will enquire further and see to go from there. It is likely I would want to outsource it as its beyond my abilities right now
