What Do I Do With All These Women?!?!?!

Hey everyone!

I have had a LIST EXPLOSION the last two days because of a contest I'm running on my new site. Over 2000 new subscribers in 24 hours.

The majority of these subscribers are WOMEN ages 18-34.

What is the BEST thing to promote to that demographic?

AMAZON Affiliate Links?

BEAUTY and HEALTH products?

WEIGHT LOSS?

Anyone have any ideas or suggestions? What have you had success with?

I guess that would depend on the reason they opted-in... What are their interests?

Think about the focus of your site and the reason they opted-in. Then give them some content related to that topic and mix in a promotion for an Amazon product or even a Clickbank product if it is relevant to them

Music would be a good choice as electronics if they are interested in a Jambox. We have been toying with Pintrest traffic and women are responding heavily to diet ads as well.

of course health, beauty, diets, dating will always appeal but these sorts of products are constantly being targeted at women so try to think outside the box.

I would stay away from amazon personally.

Stick with what you know and what has worked in the past. If it brought them to you then keep giving them something they will want. You will make more money that way.

If you signed up to a newsletter only to receive a series of 'random and unrelated' adverts targeted at you based on your sex the first thing you would do is unsubscribe.

Treat your list how you would like to be treated and give them more of what they want!

Put up another competition or do something else to keep the subscription list growing. Segment your list. It will allow you to market more efficiently. But you should definitely have a list for all your 'prospect customers' i.e new list subscribers. Then market a cheap product to them. Once they have bought it move these people to the 'proven customers' list. Sell something more expensive to the proven list while providing the prospects with cheaper deals.

This is something you should have considered long before you created your contest.

My original goal was to target Radio Broadcast pros for a webinar series... Off Air Profits by Mark Kaye

However, What I didn't think of were all of the listeners who would be responding as well who may not be interested in "monetizing your audience"

So this is a "Serendipitous byproduct." But you're right. I should have seen this coming.

How do you know they're not interested in "monetizing" in general? Assume nothing! Maybe they could be broadcast wannabes?

It depends on the traffic demographics: who they are and what brought them to your site, and where they came from, surely?

    Shoes, maybe?

Also dating/relationships, parenting, education, weight-loss/nutrition, fashion, cosmetics, travel, and so on. If you buy (or even look online) at a couple of magazines targeted and sold to that demographic, and see who's advertising in them, you'll have plenty of possible answers.

How did you get them to sign up? I would promote something related to the offer that made them sign up for best results...

But in general beauty and weight loss will always sell well with women

    Cheers,

Promote something related to what they opted in for. The fact that you got them on your list means that they must be interested in that so they are going to be more likely to buy something related to what they signed up for.

That is the weirdest thing I have ever heard in terms of a question. (Sorry for being a little rude).

I mean, why did they opt into your newsletter in the first place. You need to look at the opt in page and then offer them what ever you promised them in the first place.

Nope not rude at all. The contest is a "Nominate the Hottest Female DJ contest." There is a prize, music related. I was targeting Industry pros, but forgot about all the listeners who would also be opting in...turns out most of them are women. So now I have a whole list of women who I can hopefully monetize.

My first thought was that you could auction off a date with
    me to them

Given that music is a demonstrated interest, I'd offer them
    music, and music-related gadgets???

Your web-site contest went great. Obviously, whatever your web-site promotion was got their attention. Finding the right product is a good question but you have a list and hopefully some prospects wanting to spend some money.

If they opted in to win a Jambox it could be difficult to monetize that list, unless they bought something that qualified them for the box?, for the reason that they were looking for a freebie not a product.

BUT, it's definitely worth a shot to monetize it and I think weight loss or beauty products might sell nicely with women. You could possibly consider a sort of dance exercise program? Just an idea

I suggest you promote something related to the contest that you're running. They opted obviously because of the prize, so you can start with that.

I read that it's a music site. Though most women are interested in health loss, cosmetics, and the like; I think it would be unwise to focus on that and not on the very reason they joined.

Music-related topics should be your priority. Maybe more on their nominated Famale DJs. With the amount of subscribers you had in 24 hours, I assume they dont just want your prize but are loyal fans as well. Then electronics, as you mentioned that the prize is a Jambox.

A little of those diet pills would work too. Since most women can't resist reading about weight loss stories. But keep it to a minimum.

Hope all goes well for you!

What brought them to your site? Not all women are fat or interested in Beauty and Health. That's just stereotyping. I'm sure there was a reason they all subscribed. What is your contest offering? Whatever it was, it sounds like that may be what they were interested in.

Weight loss seems to convert across all niches. I saw a digi product on clickbank about weight loss after pregnancy. I'd test it on your list.

Not necessarily in this order: shoes, chocolate, auction for a date with Willie, or a deal on a Jambox and related items.

Beware, contest entrants may not become buyers of anything.
