Amazon Associates Question

Whats up everyone? I have a quick question! I have been doing a ton of research about how I want to start making money online and have come to the conclusion that I am going to start out using Amazon!

I guess my main question is how should I set up my website? Should I make it a smaller website that is based around one product? Or possibly have a top 10 of a certain niche's products and just have reviews for each? Orrrrr should i make like a "Plumbing Product Reviews" website and have a TON of product reviews for anything plumbing related? (Plumbing of course is just a random example of an idea).

Or is it better to have a main page that just has information about the niche that I pick and then have different pages for different products? haha sooo many different ideas.

Thank you all for your time! I really would appreciate any help!

I recommend you go with review sites. Go for product names for keywords and make sure to target buying keywords. I create a website for each product if the keywords are getting enough searches and I find it very successful. Just make sure that the keywords are right you know. It is not hard just takes a couple of failures to learn from mistakes.

Also welcome to the Internet world. Stay consistent and you will make what you want to make very soon.

    Best of luck to you.

If you got any questions just flick me a PM.

So a website in which I just promote one product would work the best?

You could always get a domain related to a niche then promote products within the niche on that domain. Buying product specific domains were more popular back when EMDs ranked higher in Google.

I'd recommend going for multiple products, for a variety of reasons
Firstly what if the product you are promoting is discontinued or goes out of stock?
Secondly you will need to find a product that gets a lot of searches which means that the chances are it is going to be more difficult to rank for.
Google does not like thin affiliate sites but likes regular updated content.
The likelyhood is that if you go the single product route you will not earn decent money.
Product reviews, product comparisons, informational articles all around a targeted niche would be your best bet.

Okay, so what if I wanted to be in the laundry niche or whatever else lol? Would it make sense to get a domain like "Laundryproductreviews . com" ? and then just have a ton of different pages where I do reviews on different laundry products? O do i need to have random informative articles in there somewhere aside from the reviews?

Yes a domain like that would be fine or something more catchy and brand-able.

I'd set up the site with separate categories for each type of product and then articles like front loading vs top loading washing machines with links to my reviews - you need a good internal structure.

If you want to build a small mini niche site then the domain you suggest is ok but it doesn't really matter anymore with the (emd) so i suggest instead to build an authority site instead. Provide valuable content around the laundry and then you can create reviews about the the laundryproducts

I also suggest to build a list (my mistake from amazon sites in the beginning) because if you can't sell in the first place, you have your list to promote later.

I think that I should start a small niche site, as this is gonna be my first real attempt at making some decent money online. I feel like If I start off trying to make an authority site I might be discouraged? Does that make any sense?

Very good point there - I agree with you there and you should stick to that.

In contrary with a previous user, I believe that EMDs (exact match domains) still carry some weight today still. All of my Amazon sites are EMDs towards a very tight niche, and then I have 5-10 product reviews on each of these sites. I tend to find a tight keyword to rank for, and then other traffic comes in naturally with other very very specific keywords (such as the EXACT product name with the model #).

An EMD still carries weight however an over-optimized EMD is going to crash and burn.

I agree that you should create a website that is scalable and can be grown into an authority site. Choose a niche you are passionate about and write about this. If you have a passion towards your subject matter you'll actually enjoy the process of creating content and you'll be actually add real value to your readers (not just spammy niche site content).

A scalable name for your niche might be something like sudstory.com as opposed to bestwashingmachinereviews.com. There are pros and cons to using both types of formats.
