The spam filter on my blog usually catches these kind of comments. I occasionally glance in the spam folder to see what type of comments I am receiving and some are just hilarious. People stating that "this article is truly amazing please click my link" on images.

yup seen that one and deleted straight away due to the fact it had nothing to do with the post and as I remember the domain and email were dodgy.

Normally give those that leave decent comments the benefit of the doubt although was recently caught out by a pack of MLM spammers. The first left a decent comment which I approved however I noticed the same comment in my spam box from several other Empower marketers, all including the approved comment were trashed.

  I haven't seen this particular one but I've received a couple of others that almost seemed genuine.
  
  When I get a comment from someone who hasn't commented before and I'm not 100% sure that it's genuine, I take a look at how the e-mail address is structured and, most importantly, what website link they are leaving. It's not a surefire way to tell for certain every time, but so far it's been able to give me the clear indicator of when the comment is spam.

Just guessing... I assume most of the blog comment spam is done by shady SEO outfits that sell blog comments by the hundreds and thousands.

pavionjsl, No, that one's not tricky enough to be the world record. Flattery works better. Here's one that's on 12.5 MILLION pages...

"I really appreciate this post. I've been looking all over for this! Thank goodness I found it on Bing."

And here's another tricky one...

On 3,600,000 pages:
"Hello, you used to write great, but the last several posts have been kinda boring? I miss your tremendous writings. Past several posts are just..."

Imagine all the time and energy that has gone into creating spam filters, all the countless hours that have wasted by blog owners dealing with this junk, and all the millions upon millions of web pages that are filling up with rubbish. If it was email spam, people would be going to jail.

I reckon a good reporter should ask some some questions and find out why people are allowed to get away with such blatant spam.

Some spammers will take the same sentence and then post it everywhere online.

You can usually see this on forums. That's the main reason why many forums these days will moderate all the new posts of new members.

If the comment is not about my article, or if the user is not a person’s name but a keyword, I mark it as spam. There is no meaning on approving comments that won't help my blog in any way.

That's why a lot of blog owners are now moderating all of the comments. You will also see most forums in the work at home niche do the same thing. They will moderate people's first few comments or posts and then when they feel that they are not there to spam, they will allow these members to post regularly without being moderated first.

Same thing with posting links in their signature. Some forums will allow you to post one after you have made at least 10-50 posts.

Lol, nothing cunning about that comment, my spam filters catch that one and millions just like it. People who don't use spam blockers or don't take their blogs off auto approve, are the ones that usually fall for that one

I get this comment a lot. It's really annoying. What I do though is I check the email and name, if there is a keyword in it, I don't approve it. I also don't approve comments, even those from REAL people, which are not related to my post. Any concern unrelated to what I wrote about should be sent through the Contact page. That is what it's for. I hope you have one as well!

I don't have a single site that allows comments anymore. I got so sick of the time and annoyance of the spam I just won't deal with it anymore. Until I turned off all comments I was dreaming of ways to reverse-hack and reverse-spam... I know - not productive thinking at all

It's amazing how many people have disabled comments on their blogs nowadays. It seems like a lot of people would prefer to simply not have any comments than have to sort through all the spam

These kind of comments comes mostly from comment blaster software or some SEO companies who spam around the web for backlinks. This is a very common problem for the people who have got a blog.

remember too that it may cause an SEO duplicate-content filter penalty hit from google for site SEO/page rank if you allow spam comments that also appear on other sites on your blog, so that's another reason to moderate and only allow genuine comments to show up

I've noticed these type of blog comments have been getting more and more popular. These people should try and channel this creativity in to something more worthwhile than spamming blogs and they might get somewhere online.
