What does infraction mean?

Hello,

Can anybody tell me what infraction is all about?
I guess it is something negative because a yellow and red card is displayed in logo (for those who like football they know what I mean).

Infraction generally means a MINOR breach of some rule.

As to the outcome HERE? I have no idea. Since it is MINOR though, you usually have to vilate a few to see a real impact. A PUBLIC infraction in the US can carry a fee though, and likely does in other countries.

On a site in looking up the difference between infraction and misdemeanor, one good entry was THIS(for a PUBLIC infraction in the US):

An infraction is punishable by a fine only.

A misdemeanor is punishable up to a year in jail and/or a fine.

Many think a misdemeanor is the most minor of breaches. It ISN'T!
