So I've got a lot from Warrior Forums, I thought I'd share my "3 Keys To Success" for any type of business venture.

1) Satisfy Needs (Market Orientation)
  • Look to the market, what do the consumers want? How can you create an offering that will meet their needs? How can you adapt an existing product to meet their needs?
  • Does your copy and marketing messages satisfy the needs of your perspective buyers? Does it use language that they understand and is meaningful to them?
  • The closer you match your offering to the needs of the consumer, the more people will buy your product! This is because their self-image will match your marketing image.

2) Be Different (Competitive Advantage)
  • Markets are increasingly becoming more saturated and its forever more important to find your point of difference. How are you going to compete in your niche effectively?
  • How can you stand out and become memorable in the minds of your consumers? How are you different to everyone else? Why should people buy from YOU?
  • The more distinct you are, the better chance of creating customer loyalty and word of mouth you have.

3) Keep costs low (Cost Leadership)
  • Everyone knows that profit is revenue minus costs, so take a look at what you're spending and work out how you can lower this
  • Work out your cost per client, can you decrease this by choosing different keywords to advertise with or a different method to gain traffic altogether? Are you paying too much for your copy, SEO, etc?
  • Remember on average it's 20% cheaper to retain an existing customer than it is to recruit a new one. Build you list and try and increase your customer's lifetime value by using up-sells and selling them other products in your horizontal, don't just have one product - have more that will interest them and will keep them buying from YOU

For determining #1, you can't go wrong with social media. Your market is out there and they are already talking about what they need.

Yes it's all about getting into the minds of the people who will be buying from you. Another great technique is finding a similar product on Amazon and having a read of the reviews - you get to know what people liked the most about the product and what they least liked - it gives you an idea of what points you need to make stood out in your copy/marketing messages and what you can do to create a better product. Amazon is also a great source of headings for your copies.

Something to add to number 2...

Examine your competition closely. Take note of what they are doing and if they are getting any customers. Then offer something better.

That's right. It doesn't get any simpler than that: VALUE FOR VALUE.

I agree, its all about a value exchange between you and the buyer. If the perceived value of your offering exceeds that of what you have priced it at you are likely to make more sales because it seems well worth the price.

So its really important to focus on the benefits you're delivering, ie. you're not selling drills, you're selling the holes that they created; you're not selling energy efficient lightbulbs, people simply don't care, you're selling the savings they get on their electricity bill.

Also, adding value can be done by being different/by having a strong brand, not just through the benefits your product or service offers.
