How Should I keep a Stable List of Subscribers?

I have lost over 80% of my subscribers from my Aweber list and I did share this with the members on another forum last week and I was told these things happens all the time, they just download the free gift and then unsubscribe.

Once they unsubscribe, would it be safe to send them any more information?

My question is:

How do I maintain a stable list of subscribers?

I have read about creating a newsletter, sending out additional emails but actually I have no idea what to send them other than the information that is already written in the free gift.

Should I do additional research on the product in the form of a newsletter?

Should I send them testimonials regarding the results of using the product?

Or what?

The problem starts at the recruitment stage. Step away from offering freebies. Instead, recruit them after you have established credibility with them. Don't pound your list to dust with spammy solo ads. Every mailer should add value to the lives of the people on your list.

I completely agree with this. What you want is an email list of people who have already bought from you and trust your work, not a list of people who are just there for the freebie.

If you want an email list of people by giving away freebies, a good strategy would be to give away a freebie when they signup and then make a big deal about giving away one of your products to them for free in a week. This would be beneficial to you if you are willing to make ANOTHER quality freebie.

It also helps to offer bonuses. It especially helps when you are selling on other websites (in some sort of special or something) and you are the only one offering a bonus.

80%?Mamadou is wondering were you are getting those leads from? You need to watch out with those Solo ad providers or Ad Swap places if it's were you are getting them .A lot of those leads are getting paid to feel out forms and stuff like that and they are mostly coming from poor countries like mine .
Cheap traffic is not always the solution.

    You'll ALWAYS have people unsubscribing.

Some will think you're spammy, even if you only send a promotion every other week.

    Others will think you're lame.

Some people just have a bad day at work, or their kids screamed at em all day, and they take it out on you by unsubscribing.

Do what you can to build a relationship with your subscribers, but also realize that you'll ALWAYS have people leaving.

Making relationship with the client is more important to him rather than spamming his inbox. Think about it.

    Well that is normal.
We can deny the fact that are people opt in just to grab those freebies and later on they'll just leave your lists.

Just build a strong relationship between your lists and I'm pretty much sure that they will stick on your list and be more excited in every email you send to them.

Are you using a Single Opt-in list, or a Double Opt-in list?

What is the quality of your freebie that you are giving away? Are people looking at and thinking that it is not quality and then unsub?

Would you like to post your URL with the opt-in so we can take a look? Or, PM me and I will check it out and let you know what I think.

    Paul.
Are you developing a relationship with the list via follow-up emails? Are they leaving after the first email (i.e., the gift) or at some point in the follow-up series?
