Microsoft Office 2010 and later will record presentations.

If you don't have that, Microsoft Expression Encoder is a free download which will record screencasts in much the same way as Camtasia.

The free version will not save to MP4. You can either buy the paid version, use separate video conversion software, or upload the WMV file to YouTube as a private video and then download the MP4 through your video manager. I recommend the YouTube route, since I've got about a dozen of the other software options and YouTube is the one which strikes the best balance of speed and quality with the least effort. (It's also free, which is nice.)

Have you tried using the video creation feature within power point itself?

using the animation and transition features will create a movie out of powerpoint and then just save it. it will save to a .wmv file. i use a free tool called handbrake to convert it to mp4 which is really easy to use.

i just created a video 2 weeks back on how to use the animation and transition features to create videos. here's the link
and here's 1 of my videos created entirely using powerpoint

    Hi Jason,

    I use Screencast-o-matic.com.

It's awesome and I've been using it for years.

I use jing for 5 minute or less videos (Free), and Replay Video Capture for videos that require high def, or longer than 5 minutes (or both)

    I hope this helps! :-)
