Hi Sara,

I got mine FREE when I purchased Dragon Naturally Speaking
software.

It helps me create content for my blog a lot quicker as I can speak
my content & then quickly edit it rather than spend hours writing
it.

Not an affiliate for this I PROMISE but the headset you get with it
is pretty cool and I haven't broken it as yet.

So I suppose this is one of those 2 birds with 1 stone kind of things eh!

I am also a big fat vote for a proper microphone.

You don't need to be sitting right over the top of them.

But they will almost always give a much better quality audio to a standard headset type microphone.

I do sit right over mine when recording but that's because I want the best possible audio.

I cannot stress enough the importance of a good microphone.

Excellent topic Sara. I'm interested in a better headset mic
too. I do 5-10 recorded calls per week (webinars, interviews,
radio shows, parts of for-sale products).

I do use the Yeti for many things but when I am a little tired,
and don't want to sound tired in the recording, I need to be
up and moving around. Being animated, and on my feet adds
energy to the recording or call.

I've even tried wireless headsets, but haven't found one that
I was thrilled with, so I have a box of mikes that I've tried but
no longer use somewhere in the back of my office closet

If it's moving around you guys want to do then you might also consider a lapel mic. There are some pretty decent sounding lapel mics I have seen used in videos over the years. I'd imagine you could get better sound out of a lapel mic rather than a headset mic.

This is what I use based on Jimmy Brown's recommendation. Love the quality. It's wired but the mute buttons and volume are on the (rather long) wire.

I also have an AudioTechnica AT2020, but I rarely use it because, despite having great quality, you can tell when my head moves away from the mic.

I had a few crap out on me or break as well so I can relate..

I went ahead and purchased a Blue Yeti Microphone a few months ago and love it!

Do a search on Ebay, I bought mine brand new for only $55 and free shipping because the guy was a brand new seller so some people get scared of that.. I got a great deal and so can you if you do a little searching in there
