Here's what you are neglecting to do...

Howdy,

I'd love some participation on the things you (or others) neglect to do in their businesses... AND these are the things they could do... or should do... to earn more money, but are not doing these things for whatever reason.

For example, over the years, I've noticed lots of people neglect recruiting affiliates to promote for them. That is something that has earned me (and others) MILLIONS OF DOLLARS!! Yet, most do not do it or neglect it.

I mean, I dont really like being rejected either... or ignored by some... but I do it anyway, and reach out to people to do swaps, or promote for me. AND, when I neglect it, it costs me money!!

Another example is building relationships. It's easy to get caught up with being secret online and not reaching out and building relationships.. but key relationships can change your entire business faster than just about anything else!

What about conversions?? many neglect copywriting or focusing on split testing, etc. I think a really good exercise is to write down 25 things you are neglecting to do in your business activities that you could be doing, or should be doing, but are not doing for whatever reason.

What are a few either YOU neglect... or you see others neglecting.

Mine is building relationships indeed! I'm working on it. Another is reaching out to the newbies more and doing more stuff, teaching more stuff, for free.

Thanks!

    Eric,

Spot on. I think almost all of us neglect something. If you are concentrating on one thing then it usually means at the expense of another, unless you have a big team behind you. I'm definitely guilty of that.

I don't think there is any one thing I neglect as such. I do think I could definitely raise the bar on a lot of the moving parts of my business -- if only there were enough hours in the day. But that's what great about business. There is always room to improve.

      Eric,

      I have three . . .

      1. Neglecting to ask my customers what they want - instead of me giving them what I think they want.
      2. Neglecting to test all the variables in an offer. I do test some things, but not others that could make a big difference in the response.
      3. Neglecting to start small and ramp up the successes. Usually I just go for the gusto from the outset.

      Nice post.

I often neglect to stay focused (sticking to the plan.) I start off on a mission and then see a shiny object in my inbox or in a search result and start to follow it and find myself hours later having made no progress on the original task, but having added another task or entire project Within a few days I can end up with a dozen half-finished little projects.

I have been trying to cut down on this by using the 'bookmark' button in my browser. If I find something interesting, but not related to what I'm doing, I bookmark it and then look at those bookmarks later when I'm in research mode and not productive mode.

Trying is the operative word here... I'm still highly susceptible to distraction!

          Is it just me? Maybe.

The two you said are pretty high up on the list. Probably the biggest is neglecting to drive enough traffic. Which is in a similar if not the same vein. That's the number one thing!

Unfortunately I neglect this task for the same reasons as you mentioned that might be affecting you. Emotional not logical reasons. But the "case" for avoiding it is pretty weak!
