Finding a niche - pls point me into the right direction

Hi everyone!

Obviously I am super new to the game:-) There is so much noise and scammy info products, blueprints etc.out there that I don't even dare looking at any of the info available unless someone recommends it (to me - not in a sales copy)

I am into photography (also just enrolled into a photography degree course). I would love to build up a site about photography that would earn money. I've identified affiliate programs, products and books on Amazone that would all work well. I would like to have a site that provides value to beginners in photography (ok that's HUGE market and super full) - how do I find a niche in there?

I understand how to use Longtail Pro and Platinum, I now also understand how (technically) to research for keywords once the nice is identified - BUT -

HOw DO YOU IDENTIFY THE NICHE itself? Where and what for should I look? What are the benchmarks? What metrics to look at and what values?

I can split photography in many areas: e.g. portrait, landscape, etc / or from a technical angle: lighting, camera handling, software / or from the end usage point of view: making money, decorating your house etc.

So - and now? What do I do? Where do I go from here? How and where do I find out the direction for the niche?

I can identify many areas of photography (niche, I suppose) but how do I know if there a space for a new site and if there is a need for one?

Well you can sell books or cameras to beginners.
Here are some keywords i found for you:
photography tips: you can write about different tips , the more posts the better.
photography cameras for beginners: write a review about different cameras when starting out with photography.

photography for beginners: this can be a niche on itself.

Why not make your site an authority site with many diffferent subjects.

Here is a great tutorial: How to do keyword and niche research the right way »

You can do photoshoot tutorials, camera effects even sell your own pictures of scenery. As mittel has already said camera reviews would be a good one. Just pick a section of the market (beginners, advanced users, hobbyists) and write for/to them.

The world is you oyster when you can make things look nice!

Tips and tutorials on photography can work well as a niche. There are a lot of aspiring photographers and photographer wanna-bes out there. Concentrate on making content that is actually relevant. With your niche, images can drive traffic really well, too. But you may want to start by deciding on which target market to cater to.

You should do what you are capable of, when it comes to picking up a niche you should first research the market and pick up what you love doing and enjoy.
Photography is very profitable and wide niche, you can also sell your photos online, offer tutorials ect.
