Getting Testimonials for a Sales Page

Maybe be this is a stupid question but i'm going to ask it anyway.

I know that having testimonials increase the conversion rate of a sales page.
How do I get testimonials for it before I actually launch the product?

You give out review copies for "free" to people in exchange for a review or testimonial.
This is standard practice. Get some brand name folks relating to your niche in there as well.

You can also sell pre-release copies at a discount rate to your list, which is a great way to take the raw black-and-white PDF and make the seed money to outsource layout and design. If you don't make enough to cover that, the product probably won't sell anyway.

A good system for this is to have an autoresponder set up to automatically add buyers to a new list, then email them (a) a reminder in three days that they agreed to review the product, and (b) a short questionnaire in seven days about the quality of the product. Those who respond to the questionnaire get an upgraded copy of the design-enhanced product and early access to the affiliate program.

This gives them an incentive to fill out the questionnaire, which should include questions like "Why did you buy this product?" and "What did you like best about the product?" and "What results have you gotten from using the product so far?" - leading questions that are likely to produce solid testimonial material. At the end, you should ask for a picture you can use on their review, their city and state, and what website they would like linked to their name.

You'll rapidly develop a solid stable of testimonials with images and links. They're also real reviews from real people with real websites. Plus, you can develop the product at no or low cost, then use other people's money to finish it.

Friends, family, friends from facebook, or do them all yourself. Make sure you edit to make it sound the best as possible. But I have heard many people doing this for their products.

That's just wrong advice there! Not only unethical, but can cost you a chunk of change in fees should any one call you on it and sue you, or the FTC get's a hold of you.

Give out a few free copies to your list (if you have one) and then ask for a review in exchange. But never right them yourself... not a good idea...

        Pretty much everyone has one.

        Facebook friends are a list.
        Twitter followers are a list.
        YouTube subscribers are a list.

Convert them to an email list by asking them to join one. Tell them honestly what the list is about. Only some of your audience will subscribe, but those who do are definitely interested.

        Then mail your list.

What I did for my new product was pretty simple. I just sold it and asked for testimonials. Now I have a bunch and I haven't really sold that much yet.

The good news is I brought in over $500 in gross revenue and got paid to get my testimonials to revamp my future sales presentation.

The truth is, at the typical price point of a WSO, you really don't need the traditional proof element that much. Just make sure your product delivers on the promise.

Then ask people for feedback straight up. I ask in my product, and in the follow up emails, and I think on my download page. I don't remember.

But asking is the secret to a lot of things.

    So is selling.

    Why not combine them?
