Foreigner wants to know how to accept payments online

Hi all,

I live in Brazil and want to sell to markets all over the world - in dollars.

I've been reading so many horror stories about PayPal that I really don't trust them.

Do you have recommendations as to which service to use? How should I accept payments and then how would I get the money transferred over to me?

I'd particularly appreciate it if you're in the same boat as me and you've figured out an effective solution for yourself.

    Frankly, paypal seems to be a good option. I have tried using local bank interface that charging me S$8,000 for the software to link the payment gateway. On top of that, I will need to pay monthly subscription plus 1.5% charge per transaction.

    After knowing this, I decide to go with Paypal since 1997 and still using them.

        You just need to add your bank account in Paypal. They will transfer the money into your bank account in a week's time. That is what I have been doing so far.

            Yes. PayPal supports foreign bank account as I am using local bank account in Singapore.

    What Paypal horror stories?

    The only ones I read are people who did not abide by the terms of service or did not advise them of a promotion or tried to use a personal account when they should have been on business or premium.

    They provide a great service but in the end it is their service just like anyother business so you do what your told and stay within their guidelines and you wont have any problems.

    If you do you approach it in a business like manner it will work out ok.

    I mean do you go with the few thousand who have problems or the millions who use it every day with no problems. Of course you will never hear from the millions as they are happy.

    However if you don't want to use them there are lots of others around. Alert Pay, 2 Checkout, Worldpay and so on.

    Of course if you do a search on any of them you will also hear horror stories.

    Heck if you search on me you will find a few horror stories.

    Its all about having a business attitude and researching to find the best fit for what you are wanting to do.

    There will always be disgruntled people no matter what you look for but hey if you go that route you will never do anything.
