New Google Image Search Taking away Views Per Link?

Hey everyone,

One of the blogs I own (wordpress) has suffered major erosion of daily views due to Google redesigning image search. The website was a general entertainment website with a male demo 18-34 and majority of traffic comes from images. Google redesigned the image search to basically steal the views of an image, taking away tons of views from many blogs and sites. Basically it's almost like their ownership over video with youtube, image search is now more interior -google based.

Now I downloaded and updated patches etc that have been suggested for retaining views, but nothing is working. I've read on the net many other's numbers aren't coming back. So I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing this and I'm thinking about changing the medium of the site to be video based.

I had 3500 average views a day drop to less than half & it's frustrating.

You lose some while others earn some. The changes have made it much easier for users to browse images. And blogs that previously had no traffic are getting views.

Not a fan of it as a user, but I'll see if I get used to it...

@Sue, I understand the reasoning, or Google's explanation is that it's more of a reset, where "it's more accurate", but truthfully it's just google trying to own the image market like it does with youtube on video searches. Which is fine, but why should certain sites be dealt blows? At least with Youtube there's a monetary in place to make up for it. Images isn't dead as a medium, but beyond social, it's hard to run an image site without google for search links.
