Warriors Help Needed

As some of you know, I am a graphic designer. I wanted to get into internet marketing awhile back so, I started a blog back in 2011 about graphic design. The site offered everything from inspiration to tutorials to interviews with other graphic designers in the industry. Well, as my graphic design firm grew, I stopped posting to the blog and my internet marketing dream was put on the back-burner.
The last time i made a post was back in april, 2012. I recently checked the stats of the site and saw that I was still getting about 3,000-5000 views a month and mostly they were unique visitors. So, i decided it might be worth a shot to continue the blog again. However, i checked some affiliate links and adsense reports. The ad-sense reports were not good at all. I was adding two ads before the post and one at the bottom of the post. I cant remember the exact size but they were the standard 350 x200 (i think). I think I have a very low ctr because of my theme. I might have to get another theme. I do have the old heatmap theme(hmt pro skin). Additionally, I was using graphic river and themeforest for affiliates. I was getting about an average of 150 click-throughs a month but the conversion was not high at all.
So, i asking current warriors to give me some advice moving forward. Especially with the site design and ways to monetize the blog. I am not sure which affiliate programs to possible get into since it is a graphic design niche. I tried looking at other graphic design blogs and saw a few possibilities but some expert advice would be appreciated. There is a link to "hire me" which goes to my graphic design firm. I guess i could plug it more on my site. Additionally, I need to start a mailing list and getting subscribers.
