Buying websites to flip

Anyone here make money flipping websites? I want to know where you find websites that have potential but currently look bad or aren't in great shape. I don't want FLIPPA listings since these are already being flipped. Instead, I want to know where you find sites where the owner will GLADLY sell it for dirt cheap so you can add content and traffic and sell it for several times what you paid for it.

Technorati? Google blog search? How do you find these sites?

Guys, I think you missed my point. I am looking for ideas on how to find non-performing or badly performing sites to flip. The urls you posted above are filled with people who already want to flip or sell their sites.

You won't find the answer you are looking for here - it's more of an experience thing.

Eventually you will get a "feel."

Do you suggest I trawl through blog and site listings looking for low traffic but promising older sites and contact the owner?

            writeaway,

            1. How do you know are not efficient? Did you try them?
            2. You could follow up post #3 and apply procedures from post #9.

    Here is what I do:

Look for websites that are already making money or traffic. Could be a lot of both or not a lot of both. But, something is better than nothing.

Once you find a website that you are interested in, think of ways you can make it better. What are some ways the current owner is missing out on visitors or income?

Buy the website, improve it using methods you have already planned and then resell the website.

Besides claims made on flippa by people already seeking to sell their sites, how do you find this information?

I got so tired of looking for sites that I started to build the one's I had wished were easy to find in the marketplace.

So yes, flipping is still alive and well - but I build them first and them sell them, so it's not 'flipping' in the absolute true sense of the word but you get my point.

Sometimes if you want something done right you have to do it yourself.

Flippa is a pretty terrible place to find this type of site so the best way to go about it is to literally contact the site owners of the sites you like and try and make a deal.

You'd be amazed at the things you'll learn and the people you'll meet along the way.

This is also a great way to build your potential buyers list - site owners may be very interested in buying YOUR sites too so it works both ways.
