How to write a compelling description for Clickbank's marketplace?

You have 255 characters at your disposal when you write you products' description for Clicbank's marketplace.

What should you basically write there in only a few words, so that you may convince many affiliates that they should promote your products?

Talk about the quality of your products, or about the commissions, the low/inexistent refund rate, etc.?

Quality and commissions would be good. Just type one out, then if it's still not getting you the kind of results you want (whatever that may be), then change it again..

    Hi Clever,

I'd jot down the 10 most important keywords that relate to your product and I'd then start writing a "synopsis", so to speak. Make sure your list include mouth-watering words such as "commissions" etc. I think this has been suggested above.

With your synopsis done, I'd re-write it until it looks and sounds perfect. Also, why not have a look at the succesful CB products to get an idea? Of course, no need to copy but you will most certainly get some inspiration from that.

I really think that you should start with a list of 10 keywords relating to your product and its promotion. It's always a good starting point.

    Good luck.

The commission is stated separately and appears on the line immediately above the description anyway. There's no need to use up any of the description word-count on that.

All of this is good advice, but for your affiliate page and/or Vendor Spotlight page, not so much for the 255-character Marketplace listing description.

Thank you! I changed my description yesterday, but I will change it again based on your guidance.

We have to say everything in 39 words/255 characters… It’s very hard to write what is substantial with this limit.

I read a few descriptions from successful vendors, but I didn't like their style. They use expressions like ‘it sells like hot cake’. I have to be more sophisticated because I’m a doctor.

I will read more descriptions to get better ideas.

Also remember you can have a Vendor Spotlight entry which points to an 'affiliate page' where you can include as much content as you wish

So maybe you can write a description to somehow compel the reader to click on the Vendor Spotlight link.

This is much better! I read something about the spotlight entry but I didn't understand how to do it and I didn't have time to read more. I will do it now because this detail might be very helpful.

    Use it to communicate PROOF.

    Best case scenario:

    You've tested your copy.

    It converts.

    You have hard data.

And you can boast how success the pitch page is and attract the kind of affilates that will make everyone some REAL cold, hard cash.

    Mark

P.S. If you can't make any real claims, go test your copy - until you can. Nobody will waste their time pimpin' out a page/product that isn't a proven commodity.

    This is a good idea.

    I will follow these steps.

It’s hard to write an intelligent short description that will attract affiliates and include everything you could say.

I was thinking about saying that these products were successfully tested since 1990 and they are helping all online users since 2007. They have numerous applications…

If I could describe everything it would be a quite convincing description, but the limits are narrow.

The first short description must be very good so that my affiliates may care about learning more in the spotlight page.

Formatting in your quote is mine.

Actually, it's impossible to write a "short" description and include EVERYTHING you "could" say. So why not just write the bits which are important to affiliates?

"Affiliates: X people bought this product and loved it. Y% commission. Z% refund rate. Click for details and start selling today."

Not sure if that's over your character limit or not, but I think it works for an example.
