Going to start selling WP pages and hosting locally - Need advice.

I am going to setup a Wordpress site tomorrow and maybe an example site or two. (with some possible affiliate links on all three)

However my focus will be offline marketing to local businesses to get them on the web or upgrade a lame duck site to a WP site aimed at local SEO.

Here is my plan:

1) I was going to pound the pavement and phone (and even look online to see which businesses don't have websites to save myself time) and talk to local businesses just about the website and hosting... and see if I could make enough to earn $3500 / month within 30 days.

2) I was considering figuring out the ins and outs of basic Google map / local SEO and selling that too.

Should I jump out of the gate and just start with this and see if it brings in enough money?...

THEN work on farming out (and maybe doing some myself) all the other things people want, like leads, pro graphics, social media articles, eCommerce, etc.

OR...

Should I try to spend the time up front to find others who can do all that stuff and include in my sales pitch, and collect referral commissions from others doing those services right from the start?

Here is what you need to know about me:

- I know how to setup Wordpress pages with pro themes, and do some basic modifications to sites...

- I understand the basics of SEO, graphics, social media, ecommerce, etc...

- but I have very little experience (literally just playing around with it on an info blog a couple of years ago before I got sidetracked by a J.O.B.

- I won't be able to pay rent and other bills unless I make about $1500 in the next 2 to 3 weeks.

- I have no job, so I have 12 hours a day to work my tail off and make this happen.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

make websites with adsense income and sell it on flippa. =] target keywords whose cpc is more than $100 and just try ranking two such keywords this niche is of lawyers. rank keywords by guest posting and writing few articles here and there. you can also outsource making of ecommerce websites and make some money this way too. Hope this helps.

      Hey Abrar,

I appreciate the quick response. I guess if I had any affiliate or Adsense experience, I might try that... but that seems too long to hit my goal of $1500 in 2 weeks. I feel more confident that I could sell basic sites and hosting in person or on the phone locally.

If any of you guys have a lot of adsense experience and know a proven plan to make that kind of money IN TWO WEEKS... I'm all ears.

      Thanks,
      Mark

Here is another way to say my question:

Do I hit the ground running with just a site and hosting to as many clients as I can, and add other stuff as needed?

        OR

Do I do a little more prep up from (thus getting started slower) to offer more value and option for the customer?

        Thanks,
        Mark

I had a similar idea awhile ago.

You can try offering "package" website creation deals. For example, one full website + basic SEO = 400$ or something like that. You could also charge a re-occurring fee to SEO the website. Like, one website = 300$ + SEO 100$ per month, etc.

I think you should aim to provide as much value as possible. Another idea would be to set up one website for website creation and another one for other services.

      Hi Timothy,

Those sound like good ways to break it down and keep it simple. I appreciate it.

Another thing I've ready on the forum would be to use Fiverr, Elance, etc to hire most of the work and spend more time on marketing and managing the outsourcing.

What do you all think of that business model?

      Thanks again,
      Mark
