Writing a WSO, but not really good in English..need advise

Hi Guys,
I have finally decided to write a WSO, BTW Which is really awesome but
my English is not that good. I mean it is understandable but its not formal.

I will definitely be giving my friend to proof read and do corrections but i do not want to heavily reply on this.

I just want to know your mind about informal writing...

Regards
Steve

I always think "informal" is good, but clarity in meaning is good, too.

I think "perfect English" matters a little less for a WSO than for most IM products you'd sell in most places, because (a) the prices are terribly low anyway, and (b) people here accept that English isn't everyone's first language and that people do their best.

If you have it quickly proofread and corrected by someone who's a native English speaker, and the meaning's always clear, I don't see this as a big problem at all, Steve. (If you're concerned about it, you can always mention in the sales post that English isn't your first language and that the PDF has been quickly proofread and corrected by a native English speaker.)

    I agree with Alexa.

English is not my native language either.I have seen though marketers from India, Philippines, Colombia,China and other places(with no offence to these countries of course), whose accent and writing is pretty bad, succeed in Internet Marketing.

Give your copy to a native English speaker for proofreading. Don't worry for anything else.

I agree with Alexa. If your report is understandable AND it delivers the benefits promised in your sales pitch, you won't have too much difficulty with the buyers here.

In fact, if your English was terrible but you delivered on your promises, you would end up with you own fan base. Whereas, if your English is perfect and the value is terrible, you will end up with a lot of problems.

Hi Probo, From the post you made above,I don't think you need anyone to outsource your report to.Wherever you think you can't express yourself much, use images for illustraions. And you be good to go with your WSO.

    Hi Probo,

If the product is the best you can deliver and it helps
people to get to where they want to be then you will
    be okay.

There are many non-native English speakers that have done well
for themselves so believe me you are not the first.

I myself have bought WSO's from eastern Europe based
members in the past so as long as your product gets straight to
the point & helps them solve a particular problem no one really
    cares.

I congratulate you for taking action & getting over the first hurdle
that holds so many people back.

Don't allow this nagging question to hold you back you have
done all the hard work so push on & launch my friend.

Wishing you all the best with your launch!

    Regards
    Gavin

I think the quality of your product would matter a lot rather than perfection in English. People would be happy to pay for quality information / product even though you make mistakes in English.

By the way, English is my fifth language and I have been running WSO here for almost a year now with a great sucess...

People appreciate information that is as easy to understand as possible.

I would probably need to see some more of your writing before making a confident decision as to whether or not you could get away with writing your own report.

But if you are a little worried about things then don't stress. The fact you are taking action is great, even more so since English isn't your first language. There are plenty of things I am not great at in my business and I just outsource them. So definitely make sure you have someone proof read it for you and fix up any big mistakes. Your customers will appreciate it and it will make you more confident in your product.

Your English isn't that bad. Write the product content, then hire someone to edit it for clarity. Just don't try to write your own sales page, get a professional for that.

I always recommend getting somebody to proofread your work, whether it's a friend with better English or paying someone to do it for you.

I think informal writing works, because it is more personal and just like talking to your customers as if they are in front you. You should build a connection with them.

But more importantly, your readers should feel that they are reading what they need to read, and that they are not wasting their time reading your WSO.

    Hope that helps.

I agree with most other replies, the writing is important but I think other warriors will cut you some slack that you would not get on a published website. You can also find cheap proof reading services on Guru or Elance.

I must agree, informal writing works. Your English looks good. Just go on with the work slowly and proofread your work several times. You'll don fine. Good luck!

    Hey, OP! (probo)

I'm going to have to disagree with Alexa and other commenters here - I think accents and poorly-worded English DO matter on a sales page, whether it's a WSO or something else entirely.

I don't have hard data or a case study on this, (although that would be interesting, wouldn't it?) but the anecdotal evidence I've seen from sales copy on auction listings on Flippa point to this being the case.

There are plenty of potential reasons for this, I guess. (buyers are more critical/skeptical, flat-out racists, etc.)

In any event, I'd definitely suggest getting someone to write your sales copy for you. I'm sure there are native English speaking Warriors here that would be happy for the work...or you could look at oDesk, eLance, etc.

I'd go as far as hiring someone from the US if you're targeting US customers, UK if you're targeting UK customers, etc. There are subtle language and cultural subtexts that might make a difference and every bit helps.

With the way you wrote this post i think its good enough to write your wso. If you need to be extra sure then someone can proof read.

I would have no problem with asking a true friend to proof my
copy, but would look for ways to reciprocate... At the same time,
it is worthwhile to hire someone to write things for you many
times. it will often make a huge difference in response rates.

You should be fine when it comes to creating your WSO. After writing it, hire someone for a few bucks or ask a friend who is good in English to proofread it for you, and take them out to dinner or something for their efforts. From the post on this thread, your English sounds pretty okay. If you have alot of images in your ebook that show people what to do, your English will be almost irrelevant (kinda anyway), as your readers will "get" what you're talking about from your images.

We all speak the universal language of $$$$$, so it shouldn't be a problem if it works. Don't let that stop you from outsourcing the voice over or rewrite, so affiliates can pick it up.
