So many choices for starting a ecommerce store?

Hello,

I've been planning to set up a store, eCommerce website but I've been stopped by all the choices I have to get started.

There's many plugins I've looked into from wordpress that would be able to turn my site into a store to sell digital content. I'm just not sure which one to go with.

It seems that you have to pay monthly for a shopping cart feature (which I don't have a problem with) or you can get plugin and buy it out.

For those marketers who were just starting out, My question is which set up worked best for you? Did you use sites like ejunkie to hold the product, and another plugin to get your theme to work as a store front?

Also one last question;

What plugin will keep my existing theme? I'm not really interested in using a template from the ecommerce's platform because I've already bought a custom wordpress theme.

Thank you

    What are you planning on selling? Physical products or digital/downloadable products?

    Also, how many products are you planning on offering for sale?

    Not all options include monthly fees.... The eStore plugin offered from tipsandtricks-hq is a 1-time pay and offers you the ability to keep your current theme and add the cart system on top. That works great for us with our digital download products.

    If you are going to build a big store with hundreds or thousands of physical products, you may consider Magento or Zen Cart, which are both also free.... They are more complex, but sometimes that is needed. It all depends on what your getting into!
