Are people still using PLR articles in 2013?

Hello everyone!

I have a question I have been thinking about lately...

In many of the courses, I have purchased over the years, it is mentioned that a great traffic source is articles on article directories, and a good way to use that is to simply spin PLR articles and submit them on as many article directories as possible!

Now, I don't think this is a very good method and I am not using it myself. Seems like spamming to me, but that made me wonder...

What is marketers using PLR articles for, if not for article directories? I hardly think they will use it on their blogs as that is not exactly good SEO.

What are you using PLR articles for?

Sincerely
Andreas

Marketers still use PLR articles but most savy markerters rewrite them before they use it so its at least a little unique otherwise the value of it is deminished. Marketers usually use them for backlinks on articles directories and social media properties rather than just simply putting it on their blogs and websites.

One way I've used PLR is as an "article starter." If I'm suffering complete writer's block I'll start with a PLR article and completely rewrite it in my own words, add some lines or paragraphs, and remove others so that the finished product reflects my style and context.

In situations where I don't have time to re-write, but still want quality, I will outsource it - and end up with a quality article that is not the same as the PLR it started out as.

some of the internet marketers uses PLR articles just to have content on their website and that is not a good idea.

I write PLR and I've purchased PLR. When I buy a pack, it's because I need an article starter. I appreciate very much that someone else took the time to research a topic but I don't like to use the articles as is because my writing style is different.

One great use for quality PLR articles is creating free giveaway reports. If you have a series of articles on a given subject you have an almost ready-made giveaway report.

    I don't personally.

I feel like interjecting your own voice is very important to building trust with your visitors, and in my opinion, re-hashed articles isn't the way to go. There are people who are successful with PLR, but it appears to be because they re-wrote the articles and used their own personal voice.

I use as well as sell it so let me address this:

1.) On their blog - yes, they do - the better customers alter it or use it as curated content in a way. IE: Let's say I sell a Pro-HcG diet plr pack and you have a diet blog about sensible weight loss. You could "quote" that entire article and add your own commentary - disagreeing and arguing every point I make in there, and offering your own tips.

Some customers use it as Springboard content - they just quickly go through and rewrite the words line by line. The research and thoughts are already done and compiled and organized for you - you just basically "thesaurus" it"

2.) In email autoresponders. You can take an entire 50-page eBook and break it up into a long series of email autoresponder tips - add a little personalization!

3.) As opt in reports. Build a list with it.

4.) As viral reports - put your own affiliate or product links in there and make it go viral.

5.) As products for sale - add stock images, put your name on it, add to, edit or delete parts of it if you want and sell it.

There are many ways to make SEO irrelevant when it comes to PLR if it matters to you.

I bought a PLR pack from Tiffany Dow (above) the other day. I took the report and cut it into a ton of pieces and fit it into a book that I have already started writing. I seriously assimilated about 80% of it into my text nearly word for word.

Now, to be fair, not all of that will survive an edit, but what she wrote in the PLR pack added to what I had already said, so it helped enforce my writing and really beefed up the overall piece.

This is all for a paid product that will end up in the mid price range. I got a lot similar content for cheap (she loves sales) and have plans for most of it. Some of the extras I got would also make great bonuses for the eBook.

Then top it off with snippets of it being used to help promote it later on down the road.

To be fair, you did ask about articles. I use a small report, but it all still fits. It saves you a ton of time overall.

It's good to use to get ideas or to reword things and add to them. You can use articles as an autoresponder or combine some as a longer ebook or report.

PLR Articles are a great way to quick start your list building campaign, make a free report for a squeeze page, create a brand new product to sell, submit to article directories, etc. The problem most people have with using PLR products is that they don't want to rewrite/change the content. Thus giving this niche a BAD reputation, I love it and will continue to use it because for me it's a whole lot easier to rewrite an article than to start from scratch.
PLR products isn't for everyone, however, if you're a newbie it's a great place to start.
