Importance of transparency
I know that lists are a "hot" trend right now and creating a list is advise often given out to first time marketers.
For those of you who strive to create a value adding company/website, please remember that transparency is very important. Have a contact email or phone number and actually respond to questions or concerns. Great companies do not disregard their customers and hide their contact info.
I recently signed up for a mailing list for a website that I was researching in a particular niche. I was getting multiple emails a day and realized that they put me on multiple internal lists so when I unsubscribed from one, I continued getting emails. This is highly frustrating and not good for business. To top it off, they list a NY office bldg (known for virtual offices) as their contact, yet when I call the bldg, they have no record of the company.
What I hope to get across in this post is the importance of transparency, customer service, and how we're all consumers at one level or another and we know how we like to be treated. With that in mind, it's sometimes easy to forget the golden rule and just worry about conversions and roi. I hope some people will read this and be a little more aware and make their company or website even better.
