SPAM invasion On warrior forum!

Guys look! we are being invaded by some serious spamming peoples on the forum and I think the moderators are taking a nap.

Got some serious activity at the off topic forum. I know this is " any topic" forum but you cannot post just advertising links here, can you? to flood the whole forum with crap links? no, right? then take a look at this!

and here is what he has written inside the shed!

Well I think the entry gates must locked up with a membership fees again.
wake up moderators!

I know the main forum is about making money online but how will we make it living in a dustbin? but if you really think this thread makes no sense (I think so) you can remove it!

If I was a moderator I would probably boot you from the forum.

You clearly don't have much respect for the work they do.

Just remember you are in someone elses house here. It's not your right to be a member, it's a privilege.

So give them some understanding and appreciation.

sorry Will, I apologize! I was not here to blame them for not taking action but to not ban the members who are doing these, The threads was there for spamming but after sometime I saw moderators are doing there best to remove the threads. Hats off for that!

Now the problem is that, new spamming threads are coming one after one having no mood to stop. I think now I got some place in the forum and the moderators are probably not angry with me anymore. sorry guys!

All I know is warriorforum is known for its cleanliness and moderators are the one to make this happen but sometimes things change and we have to work our ass off to make it good.

From the outside looking in a may look like the mods are sleeping but with the barrage of spam that's been hitting the forum tonight, I think the mods have their hands full and are doing their best.

Even the FBI gets hacked from time to time. It's impossible to close every single door. This forum is one of the most popular forums online and so it quite obviously attracts a LOT of attention and hackers/spammers.

The mods do their best to keep things under control. They have lives though and so they can't all be sitting here 24 hours 7 days a week. So if an attack does happen, report it and rest assured they will do their best to rectify it as soon as possible.

But telling them to "wake up" is not the best way to go about it.

You don't know half of the spam you don't even see on this forum because the mods catch it before it even gets to the forum.

I understand you are frustrated but just keep that in mind.

This forum is one of the most heavily trafficked sites on the web.

Stuff is bound to slip through every now and then.

Personally I am surprised at how well the forum is moderated given the huge amounts of traffic it gets.

One of the stickies is about every member on the WF being a moderator so if you come across this just hit that flag for spam button so that the moderators will get it flagged on their radar. I know it probably takes more than one warrior to hit that button for them to action it but at least you have done your part

Well it looks like I stand corrected, in another thread I had said to someone that the forum did not go back to free registration but I guess that you have confirmed otherwise.

It just goes to show that the fee was working, and now being free it invited the scum again.

You said that to me Joseph!

Yep, it seems the paid option has been removed.

        Weird.
What did I said? I just cant have the reason why they made it free again!

Huge forum with huge no. of members.
Nothing can be error free. Its only possible for Allah.
So we should maximize our facilities by minimizing the error/spam/threats etc.

Cutting down the head for bad headache is not the solution.

Only 15 till now but won't it disturb the moderators? I mean they know they are coming so what's the use of us to report them?

The spam posts will automatically disappear if they get enough reports.

there is no point for reporting the spammers because those are probably automated
the free registration was too easy to complete, it does not require any captcha or email verification, perfectly vulnerable to spammers

Seriously? Do we really need 2 identical threads about Spamming made on the same day?? I mean really?

Just report them and move on. No need to make a thread about it.

Disappointing if indeed WF has dropped the paid registration and reverted back to free registration. Doing so would likely once again draw all of the spammers out of the woodwork like a swarm of hungry cockroaches

I have reported quite a few myself. There are also inbox spammers as well. I have explained that they can;'t do it but didn't officially report them.

WF has a great numbers of users. It may be tighter in openning account/membership.

      Its important to maintain quality.

Quite a few posts in this thread mentioned paid registration. When did that happen and when did it stop? I joined last August for free. Didn't post here for a few months, guess I missed all the excitement by the time I got back.

But yeah, I've been reporting this latest serving of spam every time I see one. The mods are doing a good job, kudos to them. As an admin of three other forums I can confirm that's it's not the easy job some people think it is.

I'm all for having it paid again. $10.00 for a life time membership is not a fortune and it will help curtail the spammers.

Many of us are aware of the spam invasion, including me and including the moderators. I imagine quite a few of us spent a good deal of time reporting these posts as fast as they came in and they were being deleted just as fast.

Your post belongs in the dustbin actually. So, what were you doing during the brunt of it? Taking a nap?

    My question is:

    1. Why didn't you report it too anyone, instead of creating a post and thinking you are benefiting the warrior forum.

    2. You should understand that all eyes on thousands of post is impossible, and us as warriors should help as a community.

I agree that the way you presented this problem was not the right one. You should have sent a message to the moderators and show them the threads to help them combat spam.

This is what you should do whenever you perceive something strange going on.

No. You hit the little red triangle on the left bottom side of the post. That is the report button and that is what you use to report a post.
