I was wondering what you thoughts were on the potential on making money selling ebooks on ebay.

That would really depend on what kind of ebooks you are trying to sell. Are you trying to sell your own material or other authors' work?

I tried this, but to no avail, although I know it works for some people.

What I do though, is sell e-books for £0.99, and use it to capture leads. I get email addresses and put them into my autoresponder.

The first message just states that I will keep them informed of future offers.

Every time someone buys from me, I move them up to the my responsive lists.

Does anyone know if there is a place to go to buy the rights to e-books directly from the author?

There are many places online that let you download ebooks with sales pages and there is no charge. All of these come with Master Resale Rights.

Just do a search on free ebooks

I think this is very dead on ebay these days. You would be better off making a blog or website.
