Double Opt-In Sucks. Help.

I have a product that I sell via e-junkie (my file delivery doo-dad)

Well, on the thank you page I instruct people to get the "bonus" part of my produt by checking their email and opting into my list.

The results? Of over 100 people, only 15 have opted in... I think.

On aweber -- it says "confirmation" on most of the people's status. Does that mean that aweber is awaiting them to confirm to join my list?

Turn off the double-opt in, it's totally useless & gets you nothing.

But if you want to keep it on for some reason, the basics involved in getting a higher confirm rate are the standard:

    1. Subject line of the confirm email
    2. What's in the confirm email (hopefully you're not just using the default text)
    3. Setting the expectation on the "thank you page" - tell them exactly what they need to do

Not sure if you can turn off the double opt-in in AWeber... there have been a bunch of threads on this subject and I'm not sure if the question is ever resolved.

I found a place in my account where it appears I can turn off double opt-in, but sometimes the confirmation emails keep getting mailed out. So I'm not sure...

When you begin with Aweber, there is a choice (if I remember correctly) to select single or double opt in. This appears when you begin your first campaign. If you select double, then I believe that there is "no going back". It's always double OI from then on.

These are just my recollections, as I always use double opt in myself and use Aweber only for certain lists. So it does not bother me too much.

As has been stated previously, by using the "Search" facility one will find many posts on this topic.

        Regards,

Does anyone know if double opt in is required or not? I realize at one point you could turn it off. BUt from what I understand, you can no longer do this.

What is the verdict on this?

Everywhere I've read (and from my own experiences), you can't go back once you choose double opt-in.

But yes, just echoing what others have said, you need to have a thank you page that tells people what to do, and you need to give me a strong enough reason to follow through with those actions.

Back when I was actively selling ebooks, my confirmation rates were very good because I gave them clear instructions and incentives to do so.

I appreciate double op tin sucks but compared to when i did single opt in my results are wonderful. I have a very low bounce rate and never get any complaints at all. If say someone joins your list and accidently miss types their email address it will result in a bounce but if they hyad to confirm they would realise their error and you would have a wonderful open rate too as if they have put in the effort to join they will put in the effort to read your ezines.
