Naming Suggestions Please

Hi all,

I'm building a pool supplies ecom website i.e. pool accessories and maintenance products. I don't have time to test the domain name. The store will have the look and feel of a premium store and not a low-cost leader.

Here's a few names to kick things off:

toppoolsupplies
MyPerfectPool
premiumpoolsupplies
premiumpoolstore

A bold name that sets the store apart would be great. The only thing that comes to mind now is pimpmypool. But since the market is 35-60 year olds, I don't think this resonates with them.

Any suggestions welcome!

Thanks!

Pick something with "pool supplies" (40K searches PM) in the name and move on...

There is so much miss information going around, people really need to be careful.
Having keywords in a domain has very little relevance for SEO. Its really just for branding. You need a short, brand-able domain name.

But dont take my word for it:

How important is it to have keywords in a domain name? - YouTube!

        [/url]!
Thanks. Yeah as far as I know it doesn't have much relevance these days. But it will certainly effect the click through rate.

There's a story of a company that sells large industrial fans. They changed their name to "Big Ass Fans". This helped immensely with their marketing. This is really strong positioning. If I can come up with anything, this is the way I'd go too.

The title and the description are the most importing thing in the CTR from a Google search results page. Do this test. Go to Google and search for something. Now look through the results and ask yourself what was the first line of text you read? Was it the title text (the larger blue text) or was it the smaller green text underneath the title that had the domain URL?

My money says it was the larger blue text. Thats what matters,

Agreed, headline(which is the title in the case of search engine results) and body copy(i.e. the description) do have the biggest impact.

But domain name can make quite a difference. It's been tested by hundreds of others on Adwords. I've also tested it myself and it can have a big impact on CTR.

The point for me is to get the branding right. Which is have an easy name, with relevance to the niche and have a name that brings the highest CTR.

I'm narrowing a few possibilities now and then I will be testing them for CTR.

Well I dont believe everything he says. I would not ask him for advice on cooking French deserts or on rebuilding the engine in my bike, but when it comes to SEO and Google I tend to listen to a high level member of Googles search quality team.

Only for branding it makes sense. There is no (or very little) SEO relevance to having keywords in the domain name. Thats a myth spread by people who sell domains. Google themselves state this.

Then why even mention the number of searches for a keyword that are for a term you are suggesting to put in a domain name? It has no relevance and only confuses people and helps to propitiate that myth that keyword in domain name helps search result rankings.

Anyway the point is though its a myth, the domain name really does not matter much at all. People need to stop thinking it does.

SEO considers how search engines work, what people search for, the actual search terms or keywords typed into search engines and which search engines are preferred by their targeted audience.

I will choose PremiumPoolSupplies. Simple, easy to remember and relevant to your store. The main task will be how to market your store.

Having a domain name that is related to your niche is important but it will not make any difference on how it will rank.

By the way, I really like the pimpmypool domain name. That domain name is probably already taken so if you can add that into your website name, that would be good.

Google has been rolling out a new panda update and there is speculation that partial match domains were hit. But I wonder if that's just because many partial match domains tend to have worse content and use "bad" SEO.
