So I'm trying to setup prosper202 and get everything working. I bought a domain from beyond hosting and at first one of my friends set me up on his VPS so he registered the name server under the IP address he was given. I decided to buy my own VPS later on. So my question is, when i login onto beyond hosting and register a nameserver under the IP address i was given, will the IP change automatically from his to mine in the WHM under Nameserver IP's?

Currently the n1.mydomain.com is under his IP.

A name server is simply telling the domain name registrar where to navigate the user to once the domain name has been resolved.

If you own the domain name, and originally pointed it to your friends' hosting given his name servers, then change the name servers to use the name servers of your domain, the hosting will use your domain. Obviously you need to host the identical files in your hosting account to get the identical result to what your friend had done for you.

So with prosper 202, I would expect that you would have to FTP the files to your hosting, and probably the database too (I'm not overly familiar with the prosper 202 setup)

You will need to copy the files and database so that your retain any campaigns you already have. If that doesn't matter you can set up the domain for your prosper 202 installation, and install a new instance there.

I don't need to copy anything. That vps had nothing on it besides word press installed. It's just my domain points to my friends vps and I need it to point to mine and it's not working. In whm under Nameserver IPs, it displays his IP for n1 and not mine . Whenever I assign an ip to my domain on whm in the setup it assigns his IP and when I change it, it just goes back to his. My VPS is wiredtree and domain is from beyond hosting. Could someone please help me out here step by step! Thank you. I logged into wiredtree and I might need to create a new dns zone but I'm not sure.

You need to update the nameserver IP's from the old IP's (your friend's VPS) to your new ones (your Wiredtree VPS) at your domain registrar.

Once you've done that update the a records in the DNS zones for the nameservers so they point to the new IP's rather than the old.

If you are using the "Assign IP's" feature in WHM and it still comes back with the wrong IP's after making the above changes, then you can get around it by either:

        1. Going to WHM > Tweak Settings > Enable WHOIS lookups for the nameserver IP manager > Off

        Or

        2. Manually edit /etc/nameserverips and add the correct nameserver IP's. After doing this you might also need to run /scripts/updatenameserverips

Man this thing whole thing is really annoying me. I contacted beyond hosting to help me out with this whole situation. They changed the N1 name server to the correct IP and they pinged it and it was all good. When i went into WHM, the N1 still showed the wrong IP address, and when i assign an IP address in the setup it still assigns the wrong IP address. The "Enable WHOIS lookups for the nameserver IP manager" thing was already off. I'm not really sure where to go and edit for the /etc/nameserverips thing.

I'm trying to install prosper202 and it's just not working. I uploaded it into it's own directory and i did everything this video said to do but when i do http://tracking.mydomain.com/202-config/install.php it just says, "Oops! Google chrome could not find tracking.mydomain.com".... I really don't get it!

Does http://intodns.com/yourdomain.com report correctly? NS record & IP?

Does it match what's in the /etc/nameserverips file?

Under the DNS zones, are all of the zones correct?

You can use nano or vi. See below:

      nano /etc/nameserverips

      OR

      vi /etc/nameserverips

      -------------------

Using nano, after editing you'd want to hit CTRL & X to exit, then Y to overwrite. IF you're uncomfortable editing the file, their support team should be able to do it for you.

Did you check the DNS "zones" for this site in cPanel/WHM? They must be correct as well. These are different from the nameserverips entries.

Everything seems correct. For both panels the n1 is set to the correct IP.

Are you able to navigate to the domain itself correctly? Perhaps there could be an issue with the subdomain?

Nope. When i enter my domain in the url it says page not found, but has a cached version of it, from when it on was on my friends VPS that had word press installed. It feels like i don't even have a domain... I'm so confused.

Is your hosting company not offering any assistance at all? Is this a managed server?

Well they told me they pinged my domain to see where it points to and it points to the VPS. My domain is hosted with beyond hosting and my VPS is with WiredTree. Am i supposed to go to DNS management on beyond hosting and do something there? I think everything is fine with the nameservers.

What did WiredTree say, I believe they're a managed provider. Have they even looked into it or is that who you contacted?

Yes, that's who i contacted. This is what they said.

I looked at the issue in WHM, and confirmed that you can't edit the nameserver information directly. WHM pulls this from the internet, and as the information propagates, it should resolve. In the meantime, rest assured that your hostname is properly resolving, and accept my apologies that the system is less responsive to your changes.

They also pinged it and the IP's were coming back correct. Today i checked WHM and the n1 IP wasn't the correct one so i went into SHH and figured out how to change it myself. I restarted the whole thing, and it shows the correct IP in WHM under Nameserver IP's now.

Can you PM the domain name? I can look at as much as I can but there's only so much I can do without having access to the server. It's possible that this is just propagation still.
