Personal Business Site and Blog. Conflicting or Beneficial... Question

I thought this would be the perfect place to get some advice on this topic since many of you can relate directly, and have a lot of experience in regards to having multiple personal websites.

Quick Back story. I have been struggling with what websites to make and how to manage them so I thought I would bring the question to some people who have some more experience than myself. I work as a Web designer, SEO, Graphic Designer, Copywriter and was formerly a Digital Marketing Director for some gyms until I left for another business opportunity. Seeing as I was extremely busy before, I didn't have the need or time to make my own portfolio and offer my services in addition to my new work and the freedom it provides to allow me to do the stuff I love (this stuff).

In addition to a personal business/services website, I wanted to make a blog that discusses topics including but not limited to some information regarding services I will do, tips, tricks,. SEO techniques, web design tips, graphic design, best technique, and more.

  1. I need a website to sell my services - Web, Graphics, SEO, Digital Media, Copyrighting, etc.
  2. I want a blog that teaches the skills of the services I offer to some extent, however this could have positive or negative consequences that only time (or someone with experience) will tell. (Giving away knowledge or gaining lots of traffic?)

I would like to hear from some other people who may be in a similar situation and how you approached it, or your thoughts on the situation. Would you make one site, or two? What would you do in my situation? OR if you have a suggestion for a format of setting up sites like these, I would love some input!
