What are your favourite brands?

This is the internet marketing discussion forum, so I suppose we should restrict it to online brands, or talk about brands' online efforts. What have you seen that you've been impressed by? What brands do you talk with your friends?

Personally I'm a huge fan of RedBull for the contributions they make to extreme sports and to science, and I'm a huge advocate of Tesla for the way they're building the future. What do you tend to rave about?

I think it'll be cool to aggregate a list of everybody's favourite brands and then try to dissect what it is about their marketing that we love.

This is actually an interesting question. And I agree with both your examples.

I can't speak for the stock because I haven't delved too deeply into it, but overall, I think that ASUS is under-recognized in the USA as a bringer of innovative products. Sure Apple can be number one (but slipping maybe?) and Samsung can be number two. But ASUS really seems to hit markets in good ways, but with only a fraction of the name recognition or marketing.

And really anything by Elon Musk, not just Tesla, should be watched. He's doing a LOT of cool stuff.

I can appreciate that Red Bull is really successful at marketing but I strongly dislike them. They push a very unhealthy product to kids

Nescafe is one brand that has done really well recently with the introduction of their Nespresso machines and coffee club. They turned something simple (drinking coffee) into an experience. Much the same way American Express turned a credit card into an experience with their Black card.

Cool! Shall look them up and study them. I think the "experience" element is something that all the great brands do. Starbucks doesn't sell coffee either, they sell a lifestyle of sorts. (Same for RedBull.) Hm.

Has anybody here successfully incorporated that sort of broader, deeper holism into their sales?

GoPro is an overlooked brand that deserves to be in the "game changing" category. They brought high definition first person video shooting to the mass market. Now anybody can buy a $300 camera, capture and produce high quality video for millions to see. It's taking sports to another level by allowing people to see exactly what professionals see as it happens LIVE.

Can't say much about their presence in Africa, but their Coke Points efforts get them a lot of visibility and a lot of joint marketing opportunities.

I do also look at online brands, even in the fairly narrow internet
marketing niche, and wonder what makes them so strong.

For example Aweber is a fairly strong brand.... grown largely
through word of mouth, but also due to Tom's very high standards.

Camtasia seems to be the default standard in screencapture video.

GoToWebinar seems to be the standard by which many webinar
    platforms are compared.

With many brands, a lot of their advantage is actually derived from
their being first-to-market. When you are second, third... you are
often viewed (at least initially) as a copycat :-)
