Hello, i am a newbie to all this. I just have one question.

Copying articles from your site to article websites as backlinks. Will this destroy my google ranking?

Basically i am just copying and pasting an article from my site and uploading it to an article website with a link to my site. Is this a no no?

    It's article syndication and some people swear by it, others think it's a waste of time.

    But, both groups tend to agree - if you do it, do it to a few article directories - don't blast it to 1,000s of directories.

    Mass/automated article directory backlinks, in large numbers of different article directories, can indeed get you heavily penalized. But I don't think that's what you're really asking about, is it?

    Otherwise, the answer is "no".

    But there's no point in doing it, anyway, for that reason. Those are worthless backlinks, and that isn't how article directories work.

    I submit all the articles on all my own websites to Ezine Articles, after everything else I do with them, but not "for backlinks".

    Let me put it to you from a different perspective.

    If you went and did a Google search for a certain keyword term, would you expect to see 10 different articles, or 10 of the same article on 10 different sites? How would that make you feel, as someone doing research?

    You're better off offering quality content. It takes more time to create more articles, but you'll be better off in the long run.

    How about this: Forget about backlinks.

    Completely forget that they even exist.

    Do not attempt to gain any for the sole purpose of increasing your ranking in Google.

    Now, instead of backlinks, think about marketing and promotion.

    You should be guest posting, giving your imput on related forums (Note:In a non-spam manor), and creating great content for your website/forum.

    Master social media and make people want to promote your website; don't just build crap backlinks for the sake of making a quick buck.

    Anyway, thats my 2c.
