This is my first post so please forgive me if I'm doing it wrong or it's in the wrong place.

If some of you could take a few moments and help me get some clarity I'd appreciate it.

I've been lurking here for about two years, and learning WP, and IM and getting my head around everything as much as possible.

Here's my #1 observation: It seems like most of the offerings here are about selling ways (systems, formulas, software, plugins, etc.) to make money on the internet. (IM)

Here's the question I have: If this person has a system or a formula for making tons of money on the internet why aren't they just doing that instead of selling others a system that will show them how to do it?

I am reminded of those that teach "how to get rich in real estate" instead of spending all their time getting rich in real estate.

What an I missing here?

I certainly don't mean to offend anyone, but this question is really nagging at me.

I'd appreciate any feedback as I know I must be missing something here...

You're not missing anything. The Internet, including the WF, is ripe with people selling "money making" systems, tools, books, ideas, and web sites.

Your observation is valid and accurate. Many people sell systems because that's all they have. They don't have success with their own system so as a fall back they often claim success but continue to make no money with their own product. Soon enough, they give it up and move on to selling something else.

If you have any doubt about a seller of systems, ask for proof that the seller really did make $45,722.59 last week.

Better yet, ask for a list of buyers of the system so you can contact them and verify that they are making money with the system. Usually the seller will balk at this and say something like "I have no control over how my customers use the system!"

In any business it is important to find a mentor to help you overcome challenges and pitfalls, the great thing for us is that we have the warrior forum where we can actually ask other members about the system, formulas, software, plugins that we are thinking of investing in.
That way we can hopefully move forward much faster toward our goals.

    2 reasons...

    1) A lot of the people here selling "make money" systems don't do near as well with them as they'd lead you to believe. Fake income claims and "rags to riches" stories are a dime a dozen. But that's by no means unique to the WF... that sort of thing goes on everywhere online.

    2) As per the people here that HAVE done well with their own "make money" systems... some of them actually really do want to "give back" and help others succeed. And if they can make a few extra bucks by selling their "system" to others, that's just icing on the cake.

Some people help you make money with the tools they suggest because they want to make money from commissions and keep selling you their ebooks with money-making formulas.

However, they will teach you something, they won't teach you everything you need to know if you want to really be successful.

When you will put their lessons into practice you will find many unexpected problems.

The true definition of an entrepreneur is someone who is never satisfied and always looking for more opportunities. So let me ask you this. If you were doing something successfully online and you could also come here and sell details on your success and make an extra $50,000 from doing so, would you not do it? If not, why wouldn't you? I think people who question why successful people would sell in the WSO forum don't really understand the sort of money the top few percent of WSO sellers are actually making. It's well worth their time and effort to include it as part of their business.

That's exactly right Will. Well said.

I am a teacher at heart myself... And when I have success with something
I usually also make money by teaching it to people as well.

Like Will said: It's a great way to add another stream of income!

I know people who make a full time living playing music.
However, they supplement their income by also TEACHING music.

      $50,000/year playing music...
      + $25,000/year TEACHING music part-time...

      - OR -

$50,000/year making money with PPC promoting affiliate offers
+ $25,000/year teaching people your method with a report or ebook or membership site.

      See the benefit?

Many people here are in OTHER niches outside of "IM" such as weight loss, fitness, health,
finance, pets (dogs, cats, etc.), weddings, relationship advice, spiritual, music, etc, etc.

In the "for sale" sections on this forum, of course you will find products related to IM.
This is an IM forum. On weight loss forums, in their "for sale" sections, you will likely
find products related to weight loss.

I hope that clears it up a little for you!

      Best,
      Shane Natan

  • Heya Amdtill,

I for one define a majority of many members in IM/MMO Web forums as:

    • Marketer A is a marketing system developer or marketing product creator who intends to make money by developing marketing systems like digital info products and IM courses and coaching subscriptions and marketing products like tools and templates that can help other marketer As, Bs, Cs or Ds to become more effective marketer As, Bs, Cs or Ds. These are your IM gurus, IM coaches and IM authors and IM product developers.

    • Marketer B is a service provider who intends to make money by offering service packages to marketer As.

    • Marketer C is a B2C (Business to Consumer) marketing system developer or B2C product creator or B2C service provider who intends to make money by doing other things aside from becoming a marketer A or a marketer B.

    • Marketer D is a B2B (Business to Business) marketing system developer or B2B product creator or B2B service provider who intends to make money by doing other things aside from becoming a marketer A or a marketer B or a marketer C.

In relation to what you mentioned as your number 1 observation, I think these people are mostly marketer As, but I believe you should also keep in mind there is also a few marketer Bs, Cs and Ds among the membership bases of this forum and other IM/MMO communities.

Thank you to all for your input and different POVs.

So as usual, the keys are discernment, research, and vetting.

    Thank you again,

    Here is the concept..

You're good at fishing. You fish two fishes a day. total profit = 2 Fishes.

You teach 26 peoples to Fish two fishes a day for a commission of one fish as your fees everyday.

Total profit = 13 fishes. so 13>2 right? isn't it great?

therefore it is too fishy to teach people to fish if you don't personally know fishing at least two fishes a day LOL! and thus they are called coaches.

    good luck!
