So I registered a great domain called wrinkles.es with Namecheap yesterday.
After 2 hours I got a refund back. I tried to re-register the domain and it says its not available.
I asked them, they say the transaction was not successful with the service provider. Which is ok, but why is it unavailable now?
Can these domain registrars/service providers take anything they want? What's the use of finding a good domain then?

That's possible, but I had saved that domain to register later since a few days, nobody registered it then. Only when I registered it, somebody registered it after my transaction went through, and I was refunded in a strange way....no name or details were given in Paypal refund notice..."just you are refunded"...it took a while to figure out who refunded me?
And the transaction failed after 2 hours? Would it not fail immediately? Something doesn't seem right.

      pinks,

      Long story short.

From now on, whenever you want to check if a Domain is Available go to:

      http://www.internic.net/whois.html

Checking there, no one will steal you domain again.

Almost same thing happened to me so I guess its normal. When I entered the url that I wanted in godaddy, it was available. Then, when I was processing the payment, my transaction failed because the URL was already purchased.

That also happened to me when registering one of my domain names. So I emailed them and it was available after all ...must have been a glitch but they processed it for me.

Well, some people do think that some domain registrars take up domains that are in demand so that they could sell it for a marked up price later on. That may or may not be the case here. It's just something we have to live with for now I guess.
