Consuming Twitter...?

Excuse my current obsession with Twitter.

I just love dissecting these things because by doing so, it's possible to drill down to elements that can enhance our own products and services because you get a real-world feel for the way people are choosing to do things.

So, if you're a Twitter user, how to you consume the tweets? I have attached a poll. If you choose "other" post here to let us know what you meant.

Cheers,

Neil

I mainly use the Twitter website.

I don't trust any third-party website with my Twitter password. I've not seen a need yet to use third-party software either.

Dan's content is irregularly read by handfuls of people. Join the elite few by reading his blog: dcrBlogs.com, following him on Twitter: dcrTweets.com or reading his fiction: dcrWrites.com but NOT by Clicking Here!

Dan also writes content for hire, but you can't afford him anyway.

    Hey Dan

That's cool - I always felt uncomfortable using the site simply because the information was changing so quickly.

So I use Twhirl, which is a desktop application and I quite like it - if anyone knows of anything better, let me know.

    Cheers,

I use twitter from the twitter site itself. I feel that the main site is better and safer than any other interface and its also very appealing.

I use the twitter site itself, and only use Twitme to auto broadcast my blog posts to twitter.

    I use the main website..

I have any "social" sites.. Twitter, WarriorForum etc.. open on my second monitor and just drop in and out between other things..

Never felt the need for an app

Clever clever. I use Twhirl and TweetDeck - depending on which account I want to post from. I also post directly from my website if I'm in the midst of editing a post and I want to share something with my followers.

Use the main site. Might switch to using TweetDeck here shortly.

I'm amazed that all you folks use the site which would seem (on the face of it) to require more effort than having something like Twhirl doing all the work automatically.

Could that be because you're focused on tweeting rather than reading the tweets of others?

    Cheers,

You raise a good point Neil..

My first answer would be, No... I find it easier to have the Twitter site open so I can drop in, have a read, check my @replies and then do some tweeting when I feel the urge..

But a further examination of my psychological make up, would probably lead me to answer Yes.. I do rather love myself (/jk).. or as my Mother used to say:

"You love the sound of your own voice (Tweet?)"

I've only ever used the main site. Then again I am not obsessed with Twitter so I don't do much with it.

I'd say I use Digsby about 60% of the time (it's just so easy for all the social networks & email), then the twtter website maybe 35% and my iPhone app the other 5% of the time.

I'm obsessed with it in regard to the lessons we can learn as marketers simply because it has taken the world by storm, like it or not.

I hardly use it myself either.

I like using Tweetdeck. I keep up with my groups this way (what others are saying), my DMs come through, and I like seeing my @ replies quickly.
I log into the website every now and then for following followers.
I had nothing but problems on the actual website. Lag, fail whale, etc..

TweetDeck is an essential twittering tool for me. Absolutely essential.

Just change those horrible default colors.
