The price will depend upon specifics which you'd need to discuss at length with a potential developer.

Thanks, what do you think what would be the approximate price range of the developement? A game like this one http://www.mmobomb.com/review/soldier-front-2 ?

Elance, Vworker, Freelancer, Guru and ODesk are freelancing sites.
Go there and place an ad describing what you want.
You'll get several price quotes to compare and make a decision.

you need to get Unity license for this to make (most obvious choice for engine to make, it can cost up to $2000 alone depending which add ons you choose, graphics for it could cost $5000 - $10 000 depending on the scale of the game, and coder will eat biggest chunk of it $20 000+ for sure if you are aiming commercial quality even in small scale and dont forget sounds need $2000-$3000 even for minimal stuff, im working on a game currently why i bump into this info, if you have finances on order just go for it! but prepare for the waiting time, it will need time 1-2 years to complete depending how well financed you are

I'm working as a programmer / security manager. You can also contact me through private message and we can discuss this. I have friends who works with modelling and such so if you need us to develop a game for you, add me and we'll discuss further.

Probably a lot more money than you can afford or are willing to spend.

This is not something you can outsource on the cheap, something like that would cost well into the tens of thousands of dollars. Even if you licence a pre-existing graphics engine such as Unity, cry-engine or UDK, avoiding the cost of having to develop your own graphics engine, you will still spend tens of thousands of dollars doing everything else.

    The following game was already well underway development wise, they still estimated the minimum capital required to complete the game at thirty thousand dollars, okay? Minimum. They launched it as a kickstarter;

I thought it would be in the $150,000-$500,000 range or more, did I overestimate it?

Let's just say I have a plan that will change online gaming if I implement it. I know... everyone says that and there is no reason for you to treat my plan better than other 1000s people's plan who said the same, but I know what I know.

Found some professional game developer companies in my country (i didn't know we (my country) have guys like these, what they do is amazing!) so im going to contact them by Monday. I really hope it could be done under $250,000 somehow....

The reason they were asking that much was that the team of dedicated volunteers behind the project had done an incredible amount of work before putting it on kick-starter which is why the minimum finding required was so low.

Your estimates quite reasonable, if your willing to put in some work yourself to cut down on costs.

A game like the one you want is very expensive.

    Upwards of $30

    http://www.thegamecreators.com/?m=view_bundle&id=11

I've used it to make FPS games. It does have some drawbacks.

First, there are DirectX compatibility issues.

Second, people who use a router have to do something called port forwarding.

People like plug-n-play simplicity, and get very frustrated when having to work thru problems just to play a game.

When I got it, it cost $100, and there are many more options available now than there was a few years ago too.

If I had to guess, this isn't the solution to the game you want.

It'd be cheaper using ready 3D Engines like Unity but you can also have a custom designed engine but that would cost you much more. Also the $150,000-$500,000 is unrealistic. Some freelancers who likes what they do would do it for $100k because that would pay of the development and the time spent.

That is completely up to you! You can get a really creative group of teenagers in Sweden ( Sweden seems to be one of the best developing countries when it comes to game development ), who studies game development. Not to mention that Battlefield started out as a high school project for a group of Swedish teenagers and have become of the largest and best FPS game. Just because you spend $100k doesn't mean it will be garbage but it's about to reach out to the right kind of people. I'm sure I could contact a game development high school around me and ask them the favor to spend time and create the game. You'd be surprise about the passion and how great the games will be.

It's a tricky question. Generally speaking, it will be expensive regardless of the platform and length. But development costs can vary depending on things like:

    - Console or platform
    - Game engine used
    - Game length
    - Production values (cut-scenes, original soundtrack, story/plot)

    ... and so on.

If I were to jump into this market, I would probably start off with something less ambitious, something that looks good and plays amazingly well but keep it within the mobile market. As such, you can find a developer to make it for a few thousand dollars as opposed to hundreds of thousands (or millions.) Average game development costs rose to over $20 million as of 2010, just to give you an idea.

All in all, your best bet is to find yourself an indie developer or two, someone who's experienced enough to do a good job but is also not fully established. Places like Guru and similar tend to work wonders.

P.S. Also, with a little creativity you can always rely on Kick Starter...

These types of games are very expensive to have developed due to the size and cost of designing them.

You may be better off going down the route off offering small researched games which you can get developed quickly and cheaply and make a steady passive income from.

If you are sure that the niche you require will be popular and unsaturated then you can go for the larger more complex option but be prepared to paye $1000 minimum on sites like oDesk and Elance to get this done.

I had a similar game to bejeweled designed and developed and it cost me about $10,000. This was back in the day when i was into skill gaming. I would think a game similar to "Soldier Front" and some other FPS I am familiar with would run well over $50,000 into the 7 digits. Don't forget server costs!

With freelancers and a game engine it would be much cheaper than hiring a development company. However, it would depend on the game.

Making quality games, will cost you and arm and a leg. These businesses spend millions on development and then marketing the game. This is such a saturated niche and it will take TONS of work to make profits.

    Best Of Luck!

Regarding the replies on the thread; I'm not sure who experienced every member is in modelling or game development but I can tell you already that 95% of the answers are incorrect. How do I know ? I am a game developer myself both coding ( C-Sharp and C++ ) and Maya modelling but I can tell you that if he fins a high school project he'll be able to waste less money since they already own the products and they can spend their free-time and school work to create textures, modelling coding or whatever. Not to mention that Battlefield started out as a high school project by a few students. Instead of hiring companies that charge the hell out of you, get a bunch of students to to the work. First of all, they don't require a high budget, also they are passionate about what they do. I can promise you that the quality can even be better than from companies because all the company cares about is the money.

Gamedev is a very complex subject, I recommend to find russian developers from gamedev.ru. But if you found devs in your country that's the best option.

Can anyone recommend good indie devs that work with Unity? I am wanting to hire someone that can develop games for Windows Phone and Windows Store.
I would also be interested in Windows Phone app developers.

    Hi,

Usually, developers charge per hour depending on the specifications of the project. You can pm me if you need samples of different games that we've developed

i don't think there is a fixed or approximate price. it varies a lot by the hours that will be spent , requirements , kind of game, people you will use , testing , designing it first etc etc
