How in hell do you send an email with Gmail?

I just opened up a new Gmail account and wanted to test it. I sent one email to it and it arrived, but I didn't have the forward email set up right so it never got forwarded. I tried to send another one but it never arrived so I tried to send an email to myseolf from Gmail and I will be damned if i can find any create new email button or link on the page. i have gone all over the page and activated every drop down i can find.

Surely Gmail has a create new email link somewhere on the page. Any advice?

    It's the 'Compose' button near the top left of the gmail page.

    The compose button wasn't showing up for some reason. it is there now. Not sure what is going on. The second message i sent is not in my inbox yet, and it did show up on my MS Outlook forwarded. I never chose to delete forwarded messages, so something is going on weird. sometimes I feel like i am living in a strange world where pixies or goblins play weird tricks on me. And I don't drink or take drugs any more.:rolleyes:
