I am starting two new websites. I was wondering if you guys have any suggestions for where to get the privacy policies and terms of service from. I bought the privacy policy and terms and conditions from termsfeed.com but is that enough? I also got a affiliate disclaimer on both my websites: (mywebsite).com is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com. on the side panel where it is visible. The terms and conditions and the privacy policy are linked to on the bottom of footer on every page on my website. My websites are: 1 amazon associates website and the other amazon and adsense. Does anyone have any experience with termsfeed? Is that enough legal protection for my type of site?

Thanks

        Yes it is.

I know it is an ugly site, but the information is worth the price of entry.

Never used termsfeed before, but I think you will be safer with one written by a lawyer, and not a generator. Not all terms are created equal, and not one fits all.

The site could use a bit of fancying up. xD

But 9/10 times you won't truly need a good policy unless you're going pretty large, however, it's like insurance, you probably won't need it, but when you do it's GREAT to have it, if you need it and you don't have it then you're screwed.

Best to pay a little bit now to prevent paying a fortune in the future.

So no one has any experience with termsfeed.com? Im fine with paying more on something like Internet Marketing Law Center - Membership but if termsfeed.com is ok, id rather just use them since i already bought my privacy policies from them.
    Thanks!

      TOS

I just went through termsfeed and got a free TOS. It's garbage.

My philosophy about TOS is simple: you want to be a porcupine to prevent lawsuits. In part, this means if there is a dispute, either one you want to file or one someone is filing against you, you want to firmly control where it is filed.

For example, I am in California and I don't want to leave the door open to you suing me in Florida. That can get expensive real fast. On the other hand, if you are in Florida and am stuck suing in California, you may decide it is not worth your time and money.

Termsfeed doesn't do this. It doesn't come close to doing this. The website says the forms are "attorney quality". But not from any attorney you would ever want to use. Precise and exact language needs to be used and, frankly, termsfeed has no clue what it is doing.

On the other hand, I absolutely love to see junk legal terms like this because when there is a problem my law office is going to get paid thousands of dollars dealing with it. A good portion of my practice results from people getting burned (or a windfall, depending on what side of the issue they are on) by free legal forms or some language copied from who knows where.

You're probably not so thrilled, but those are the cold, hard facts.

      Privacy Policy

This is much simpler. Here's the deal with a privacy policy - all it has to do is say what you do, or don't do, with private information. It could be: "We don't disclose your private information." Or, it could be "We sell your email to list brokers."

      That's it.

There can obviously be a lot more that goes into a policy, but the point is not to buy a policy to have a policy, but to have a policy that accurately reflects your practices. Having an inaccurate privacy policy can be many times worse than not having any policy.

Thanks a lot! I already bought the privacy policy from terms feed and its accurate to what I do. Do you think the paid version is any better, they say the paid version is "attorney quality". You seem like you know what you are talking about: I'm going to consider buying your package at internetmarketinglawcenter.com
        Thanks

I went a bit nuts and created the Mother of all Policies. I covered:

    - Privacy Policy
    - Encryption and Security Policy
    - Content Policy
    - Cookie Policy
    - Traffic Policy
    - Email Policy
    - Originality Policy
    - Advertising Policy
    - Design and Technology Policy
    - 3rd Party Plugin Policy

Basically if I think somebody is going to bitch about something, I have my ass covered.

I don't think I will "grab" anything from you one because I just don't do that and two because I read that copying legal stuff from other websites is a very bad idea. But thanks for the offer

You do you have a privacy policy which covers a lot. Mine just covers the basics: cookie
      Email
      Child protection
      Linking
      And a couple other

"You" created, or you "hired an attorney" to create it for you?

And, if an attorney, was it an attorney who specializes in Internet Law?

I'd like to leave you with one thought... :p

According to Abraham Lincoln, who was a practicing attorney before he became President of the United States, "He who represents himself has a fool for a client."
