Estimate how much money a site could make

Hey guys,

Let's say you have a site that is on the web that is purely for entertainment purposes. And let's say it displays the latest pictures of events that are happening around the world.

If it's getting 300K unique visitors per month, how much money could such a site make? If it went with an adnetwork or google adsense, what would you estimate the site makes in revenue?

I would sell adspace on it. Look at PerezHilton.com...a good example...and makes TONS of money. But then again, huge traffic as well.

I have a dance forum that gets pretty close to those numbers, and I would estimate that purely off Adsense you would make less than $1000/month (which still isn't that bad), though with some creativity you could find additional ways to monetize.

It is okay to contact me! I have been developing software since 1999, creating many popular products like phpLD.

So adsense would pay around 1 thousand for about 300K unique visitors per month?

its impossible to estimate this without knowing more about your traffic. I know lots of sites that get ridiculous traffic, but make nothing because the users arent looking to buy or they arent really qualified traffic.

I know a game site right now that gets in the neighborhood of 5000 pageviews an hour and constantly has 300-400 people sitting on it 24/7, but they barely pull down server expenses per month

The traffic would mainly be people looking for news/entertainment around the world.... Your typical Digg.com kind of visitor.

But aren't there adnetworks which would pay on a CPM basis?

What you are asking does not take into account what these visitors may/may not be spammers, so therefore you don't know for sure that you are getting 300K solid visitors to this site per month. Also, I doubt whether you actually can make a lot of money from just AdNetwork or Adsense alone. It seems like putting all your eggs in one basket. Does this site market any services or products that are not directly related to this entertainment site but could be of interest to its viewers? This could be a way to increase revenue. If depending only on AdSense and AdNetwork alone to bring you revenue, then you're sort of limited. You may want to look at other ways like I mentioned above to capitalize off of the amount of traffic this site is receiving.

    Hope this helps!

Entertainment sites have lots of potential and can make a lot of money. There's a site called PerezHilton that earning lots of income.

Just post lots of original with images to every post and host your site on some dedicated server.
