I see this all the time, landing pages with great big red letters, does this really work? It hurts my eyes and usually i click off right away, but the fact that people are doing it suggests that it works. |

For some it does and for some it don't .. I know many that run from sites that start out like that .. What is important is that you use power words in your title such as "Discover" "Warning" "Amazing" and etc .. Give you an example: Learn How I Made $10,000 Last Month Using Simple Methods <----- Bad Discover How You Can Amazingly Create Wealth With This Tool <---- Great The reason why title #2 is more effective is because people do not want to learn for one thing and all you are saying in the first title is how you made money but not how someone else can. Notice the black and blue and underlines.. Now since I am not a copywriter I would suggest you test but this post should give you a good start.. James |

Different markets respond differently. There are no "rules", only guidelines about what has worked before. The correct answer is always to test. If red improves your results, keep it. If not, don't. | |

Hi... Yes James is right - sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't but it will depend on your niche. Unlike James I am a copywriter, so I'll expand a little. You generally see lots of big red headlines in IM and other marketing focused niches. Why? Because it works. The big red font gets attention, and that's the #1 job of the headline. Sure, you may find it doesn't work so well in other niches, like health or babies or whatever, but in a lot of cases it will work just as well. The answer to stuff like this is just to test it on your own site. Start by testing the red headline against a few others, and see what happens. The winner in any test is whatever makes you the most money. Forget personal preference, if you're in this to make money, you have to use that as your yardstick. The bottom line? Focus on YOUR bottom line. Hope that helps -David Raybould |

Dude I think anyone who's giving genuine helpful answers to people who clearly need help is doing something right. IM can be tough, but those of us that have been around a while can really help the new guys. |

I know what you mean, instead of bold red lettering my pet peeve is when people seem to love having video or audio that automatically plays when you go to their site. Or, the worst, is that annoying thing where the person is talking and the video of them follows you wherever you scroll on the site. I absolutely hate these, but a lot of people swear by these tactics. It all comes down to testing to see what works for your site. It can be hard to overlook personal preference though. It's hard to believe that you're the only one that reacts that way, but you need to do what works for a majority of your market.

My two cents: Red letters have been effective in my spam-ish sites, but not so much with more professional sites. I also personally hate automatic audio or videos. |
